Saying someone believes in "the biblical definition of marriage" - you mean like raping a slave? Soloman and his hundreds? Celibacy? Forcing a rape victim to marry the rapist? Killing all the men, boys, and married women in a conquered city, but raping all the virgins, then calling them wives? All those are in the bible. Nonsense. I don't give a damn what someone's interpretation of some fantasy book is, not my business. But when they demand that this be public policy it is very much my business. If she refused to grant licenses to Muslims because Islam is against her religion, and prohibited others from doing so, would she be a religious bigot? If she refused to grant marriage licenses to interracial couples because "race mixing" is against her religion, and prohibited others from doing so, would she be a racist? Would it be OK to just tell the people to whom she expressed her holy righteous contempt to just go elsewhere? There is no way around it. If you think gay people do not deserve the rights that straight people take for granted that is bigotry. You may claim your eye in the sky told it to you, but in my experience it's always the other way around. Believers who are bigots are attracted to religions that agree with their prejudice (I have yet to hear anyone say that their god is fine with gays but they are not). Believers who are not bigots are attracted to religions that are inclusive.
Insults to the Bible and all those that hold it sacred aside......she refused to grant licencez for everyone, not just the homosexual couples. Those things in the Bible you speak of are all condemned by Christ in that same Book. I also believe most Christians believe all couples should have the same rights. "Marriage" and civil union might be the biggest difference. You are very quick to attack and belittle for someone so anti hate
Thats what I'm saying. All these horrible things happened, then in the new testament God condemned that
When are you people going to wake up and realize that we are an alien penal colony and that our overlords will one day return to conscript us in a war against giant lizards?
She's denying people their civil rights, anyone trying to claim "its her religion, its not her fault" are idiots. She has free will, and she chooses to be a backwoods bigot . And the people defending her actions as "pure" or "moral" in some way are brainwashed bigots too.
This is my take as well. Regardless if I agree with her or not, a governmental employee cannot use the "my beliefs" as a card. If you have a problem with it, step down and state your protest legally

(AP) -- Marion County Judge Vance Day is being investigated by a judicial fitness commission in part over his refusal to perform same-sex marriages on religious grounds, a spokesman for the judge said. When a federal court ruling in May 2014 made same-sex marriage legal in Oregon, Day instructed his staff to refer same-sex couples looking to marry to other judges, spokesman Patrick Korten said Friday. Last fall, he decided to stop performing weddings altogether, aside from one in March that had long been scheduled, Korten said. "He made a decision nearly a year ago to stop doing weddings altogether, and the principal factor that he weighed was the pressure that one would face to perform a same-sex wedding, which he had a conflict with his religious beliefs," Korten said. In an email, Day declined to comment and referred questions to Korten. The issue of same-sex weddings is "the weightiest" of several allegations against Day that are being investigated by the Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability, Korten said. He declined to detail any of the allegations, saying he didn't want to defy the commission, which considers complaints confidential until it is ready to make them public. The investigation of Day's conduct comes amid heightened national attention to the responsibilities of public officials who oppose same-sex marriage. Kim Davis, a county clerk in Kentucky, went to jail Thursday because of her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
She's cute, so she can do what she wants. I bet she's cold on her lonely jail mattress tonight, kept awake by other lonely women snoring. I bet she'd love a strong male body to warm her up. Poor cutie. Her inmate friends would want to share me, to celebrate our heterosexuality. I wonder what that little heifer's phone number is.
Ladies and gentleman...meet husband #5...all those conjugal visits and the state pays for everything else..cellmates solve the orgasm issue so that won't be a concern!
Here's a concise list of the other officials who don't issue the licenses. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ki...o-issue-same-sex-marriage-licenses/ar-AAdZa33
