he doesn't look like an nba player. interested in how he takes in coaching, but i wanna see something, anything... and there's just nothing there. i suppose you could make something of his aggression on defense, but he's getting blown by on every possession. And he looks like he's trying to do way too much on offense.

i don't like the Ant comp. We saw the makings of at least a rotational talent with Simons if you could squint hard enough earlier in his career. And he always had shooting to fall back on.

obviously need more than a 3 game sample size. hope KJ becomes somewhat useful.

Yeah, he has a ways to go. He is only 19 (for another week) and he just is not ready. He probably won't be next year either, but by his third year, he could be an entirely different player if he has a strong work ethic. This is the reality for most one-and-done players.

Exactly! One and done immediate successes are the rarity. Johnson needs multiple years in the G League, then maybe.

wasn’t brown a one and done player? He looked like he was years way in the beginning of the season as well. You could even include Ant in this. He didn’t even look like a point guard until this season, his fourth in the league. Its premature to really make any judgements on Keon

Keon showed some signs against the T-Wolves with some efficiency. 5-9 from the field, but more importantly, 3-5 from 3-pt range...with 1 miss being a last second half-court heave. Maybe the most impressive, was 5 assist with 0 turnovers.

Any judgment on player who has been in our system for less than 5 games is silly. Kid shows superior athletic ability, and smooth shot. Add in he’s going to see Simons work ethic and be able to work with Dame I think he has great chance to develop into a good NBA player. That said he is also a trade chip so he might not even be here. The better he plays over the last 15-20 games increases his value and gives us another potential young asset to trade if necessary

amazing how a few posters were crapping on him after a few games. He has in just a handful of games shown improvement and looks to have some serious athletic ability and a nice looking shot IMO - Chauncy seems to really thrive/excel at teaching these young guard/wings, he has IMO some serious "raw material" to work with in Keon!

I'm looking forward to seeing him do this (video below) in a game. Eubanks has already shown him it can be effective in ruffling some feathers of the opponent.

When folks talk about Dame and dealing him…. Man, dude ain’t gonna get a ring in Portland, but he sets the gold standard to the young guys and the work ethic and what it is to be a pro. He might not win a ring here, but his presence is paramount to the next gen, including guys like Simons, Johnson, etc. he’s obviously rubbed off on Simons, which is great, and hopefully Simons can carry that torch.

Looks like an NBA player to me.

Also looks like he’s worth developing as a point guard. 5 assists in two of his last three games. He’s not there yet obviously, but in a year or two he could be. I refuse to believe he won’t develop into a good shooter as well. Form is too nice, and is a good free shooter.

Agreed. I just don't get the rush to write off a 19 year old so quickly by some. Is it the desire to be 1st in being right on him sucking?

His defense is actually his strength right now. He has the athleticism and quickness to keep guys in front of him at the point of attack. He anticipates and fights through screens. But with most young guys, needs improvement on team defensive schemes. But that will come with time and game experience.

Most of those writing him off early are the same people that are upset with Cronin and the Powell/RoCo trade. A little bit of confirmation bias.
