Perhaps he's been in hiding in the woodwork for the same reason I've been... that Olshey was so clearly incompetent for years that whats the point of commenting on the latest reshuffling of the deck chairs? Finally having turned that page, I looked forward to what the future for my favorite rooting interest held. And then today happened

Giving young prospects a chance is my specialty. My vice. My weakness.

IDK. But I get the feeling Dame relishes coaching young talent.

I can't measure someones happiness. Though angry Dame seems to play well, so maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing...

i don’t wish Dame gone…but we traded for 3 guards and a pick

only real hope here is that Bledsoe is traded with Nance to bring in a vet PF - Knicks?

and CJ looks like he’ll be gone = we need a wing

He was also regarded as a potentially great shooter prior to that. Is the same true with Keon Johnson? Trent was expected to become a good shooter as that was one of his calling cards.

Trent shot 40.2% on three's in college. Johnson shot 27.1%...so it's a bad comp

By who? Many on this board at one point said Trent was trash, Ant was trash, Little was trash. When it comes to young players it is pretty evident no one really knows what they are talking about.

And let's not forget what fans have said about RoCo and Norm. Now all of sudden losing them is the worst trade ever. Now for the record, it was a bad trade IMO as well, but not on the level as some are saying.

Interesting note about Keon: he didn’t start playing organized basketball until high school.

This pages calmed me down a bit. Billups likes this kid and he will put him on SG. Blazers are building from scratches with guys, that are actually enthusiastic to play in Billups system.
Powell wasn't good fit for Billups and I assume RoCo wasn't happy here.
Have to say it is a lot of fun to watch Greg Brown and other youngs playing and I love Billups for it. Hope new guy will dunk some in first games.

From the other side, Olshey would probably get him for Powell's t-shirt, so this trade still looks like worst I've ever witnessed here.

The trade gives Portland more cap flexibility and luxury tax savings while likely improving the chances of a higher draft pick this season.

Keon Johnson, who turns 20 in March, is a long-term play the Trail Blazers hope will develop in the years to come.

“He’s a supreme athlete with a good head on his shoulders who’s a hard worker,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He can bring a defensive intensity and ability to cover ground. His offense has a ways to go, but he can handle the ball. Next to a kid like Anfernee Simons, he’ll be good in a speed offense.”

So ownership gets to keep more money... super! I won't be holding my breathe that they'll be able to use it to land a significant FA as that never happens for Portland. Agreed that this move helps the tank agenda.

I went through many past draft combines this morning trying to come up with a SG of note with a smaller standing reach then KJ's 8'1". But then it hit me, CJ... 8'0.5" :breakdance:

People needs step back all of this because we don't know how they will fit in in the system. By there stats all 3 are pretty good on the ball defenders. They all 3 under 110 defense rating and Keon is 105 in the G-league and averaging over 15 points a game. Keon more mid range shooter now and in college. He also moved feet well on defense. He can extend his shot out to 3 point line but that's his weakness right now something he can work in the off season. The other 2 well you already know what your getting there going play decent defense and score some. But remember Roco wasn't sitting the world on fire this year and yes Powell can score but his defense wasn't good. So we didn't get the trade that look like some of guys unrealistic trades you come with in here. Just because Olshey gave 1st for Roco doesn't mean he worth a first. Powell maybe or not but I Joe got what he could get out of the 2. On paper it's don't look like it was good on our part but remember on paper someone of you thought we a playoff team and some of thought in the top 4 playoff team. Let it play out to see if these guys helps or not because what it's seems on paper doesn't always play in reality.

Winslow at 25 could and I STRESS could be a valuable rotation player if he can ever stay healthy, he was good at Miami, a very good defender and even played some pt guard effectively when Dragic had a bad knee injury. I think he is healthy now but can he stay that way? guy has already had a hip replacement, but he is a Chauncy type player. Lets see what he can do the rest of this year with a lot of playing time, I think he surprises IF IF IF he can stay healthy, we see

I agree. I think one could argue that Winslow is as good as RoCo. Both are solid defenders with Roco being longer and Winslow weighing in more.

Neither are dependable on offense, but RoCo is a better 3 pt shooter and Winslow is better around the basket and has better handles (IMHO)

Plus we can keep Winslow for 4 million next year or use him in a trade as filler.
