Besides, I am sure that "Jesus" is for the war. Whatever happened to turning the other cheek???

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Eagles4Life)</div><div class='quotemain'>I tell you what. When I graduated HS, I almost went to the Army. This was at the time when Clinton was president, and they were talking about the GI Bil, and how it would pay for college. There was not sign of War at the time. Did you read what you just wrote? Yeah, the Army is great when you are just looking for a free handout from the government....

No, whats I said. A lot of people that join the army do not acctually expect to go to war. And more so a war that was not totally necesarry.

This is bushees biggest mistake. He does not explain why he does things very well and you end up with people who dont understand. If he were better at this one aspect, people would consider him the greatest president of all time.

I would probably argue the greatest comment, but this is certainly GW to a T. He lost the debates IMO because of the same weakness.

Fine BF1. Why dont you then explain to the rest of us why it was so imperative to rush into the war with Iraq, before we were ready to do so.

If you are considering joining the Army, there is a big difference in "expecting to go to war" and "being offended when you do".

I agree with you cowboy, however it is easier said then done. A lot of young kids with no money join the Army as opportunity to go to college. A lot of them never acctually expect for the president to go to a frivolous war. The war in Afghanistan was a good war, and I bet alot of people fighting there are proud. Iraq is a different story, it was not a necessary war. There were other means, and Bush chose not to explore them

While I disagree with the decision to go to war in Iraq, people joining the armed forces know what they're getting into, or should. It's not a free ticket to college. They know who their boss is, and when a decision is made to go, they go. It's fully their right to disagree with a war, but it's their job to fight it.

    No doubt.
A lot of them never acctually expect for the president to go to a frivolous war.
Frivolous is obviously in the eye of the beholder, but Vietnam isn't that long ago. If Iraq is frivolous, then maybe they should have paid more attention in high school history class before making an important decision. Civics class would also be helpful for those who want to criticize any government.
The war in Afghanistan was a good war, and I bet alot of people fighting there are proud.
I'm not sure there is a "good" war, but I understand your point. I'm sure there are a lot of people fighting in Iraq that are proud too.
Iraq is a different story, it was not a necessary war. There were other means, and Bush chose not to explore them
Certainly a reasonable opinion to have regarding Iraq. I'm not sure you can claim to know what Bush explored unless you are closer to the action that I thought. As for it being a necessary war, its always easier to take the stance that it was unnecessary.

I have to wonder what would have happened if the United States decided to invade Afghanistan in August of 2001. Would it have been necessary then to sacrifice a few lives to save those in New York? Doubtful without knowing about New York.

I just read in the Oct 16th issue of World magazine that US forces just confiscated some Iraqi intelligence documents that show substantial links between Hussein and bin Ladin, as well as others. The word ?links? could be argued, but how do you know what we will find out next week?..next month?

I sure hope I don?t know all the facts about the situation?.or more facts than Bush or even Kerry for that matter.
