It didn't matter what Judge Jackson said. Republicans had decided in advance they would oppose her regardless. They were looking for sound bites for Fox "News" or campaign ads. They had no interest in her responses.
Yes. That's why the most prudent course of action when asked a question unrelated to your profession is to handle it how you would if met with the question professionally. Which would be to acknowledge that you are not an expert, as you would want a judge to do, rather than relying on personal bias. An unbiased justice would likely seek professional testimony to base their decision on. Which is what it appears her answer would have led her to do. In the given situation her reply was exactly how I would want a Supreme Court Justice to reply.
Hmmm....you're saying the Dems didn't oppose Kavanaugh in large degrees and didn't dig deep for stuff....any stuff?
Digging deep in to rape allegations seems like a very different thing than asking someone what's a woman, and going off on critical race theory.
OK, undersood. But, don't think for a moment that the latter aren't eventually going to be potential issues elevated to the top channels for decisions, because they are. This ain't your mama's world we live in anymore. Personally, rather than ask her definition of a woman, I would have asked her take regarding the whole trans competing in sports issue. It's a real question, and transcends (no pun intended) political parties.
There wasn't much digging necessary with Kavanaugh... There were claims of impropriety and assault almost immediately following his selection. Far different than what we see here.
Well, I dunno. Seemed a bit more intense back then. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...stimony-coordinated-supreme-court/1201785002/
It's the times we live in, brah. Can I even call you brah? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...N-STOCK-Sorry-dont-woman-just-saying-one.html
No. Kavanaugh was credibly accused of rape, screamed at Senators and vowed to take revenge on anyone who questioned him. Jackson was accused of being a Black woman and behaved with dignity and courtesy.
The joke is that they all voted to confirm her for the federal appellate bench. Last year? a few years ago? 99-1
No, my recollection was that some witnesses were not credible in any sense. I would have been upset, too. He's not a robot. He's human, too.
