Kevin Love AGAIN (with poll)

Cleveland just want Love off their books so they can move on in the youth movement. Obviously The Big Three are off limits, and to me, Collins is too. But you just have to match the salaries to make it happen. There are players other than those 4 who could make it happen. The question is, how much does he have left in the tank? I think he's worth investigating the possibilities.

Kevin Love is still really good. People tend to forget that, but if you put him alongside Dame and CJ, they'd be a legit threat in the West. It's unclear what the Cavs want in return for Love and have publicly stated they don't want to trade him. They can say whatever they want, but if the right offer comes along, they'd have to consider it. In this deal, they clear some money, get two promising young players and a first round pick. Call it in.

 

I dont hate the idea of bringing in Love as much as others, but with how bad the defense has been, like they’d give up 140 a game adding another guy who doesnt play defense.

 

Trading Simons and Little for Love would be terrible, IMHO. The pick plus Whiteside plus the money the Cavs would save should be more than enough. Throw in Little if absolutely necessary, but no way on Simons.

Steve Blake to the Blazers


Steve Blake is still really good. People tend to forget that, but if you put him alongside Dame and CJ, they'd be a legit threat in the West. It's unclear what the man wants to return to his beloved Blazers, and has publicly stated that he enjoys retirement. People can say whatever they want, but if the right offer comes along, he'd have to consider it. In this deal, we get a great mentor, and we don't lose a damn thing. Not even an up and coming massive talent. Not to mention, we get his magical abilities; to do whatever he wants with that ball (see above picture). Call it in.

 

Anyone aside from Dame and Ant.

Make it happen.

 

Tristan Thompson is having his best season in years. Wouldn't it be nice to acquire an entire frontcourt in one go. Little is a stand-in for whatever sweetener we have to throw in. A pick would be okay with me.

 

Might need to add a 1st round pick.

 

When we get Love I would like Dellavedova with him. He’s tough as nails and a veteran backup PG. and he went to my alma mater. I would love to dump Hassan and Hezonja

The Portland Trail Blazers made a splash when they announced the signing of 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony. For a team that made it to the doorstep of the NBA Finals last season, the addition of Anthony is the equivalent of hoping to catch lightning in a bottle after a 5-11 start to the season.

On Saturday, they will get a close look at Cleveland Cavaliers star big man Kevin Love. It wasn’t far from Portland that the star of Love began, as he was a five-star recruit while at Lake Oswego High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon.


Now a two-time All-NBA performer, Love has ascended to the upper echelon of talent in the league. He has a maximum contract on a team that appears unlikely to challenge for a championship in the immediate future. One can begin to see the arithmetic beginning to line up. While the Blazers will have to guard Love on Saturday, it would behoove them to have him on their side for the remainder of 2019-20 by acquiring him in a deal.

As with any trade that involves acquiring a superstar player, expect picks to be central to the negotiation. Cleveland already boasts one of the youngest rosters in the league, and by dealing Love, they would hope to get an enormous haul back that could revamp their rebuilding process.




For arguments sake, Portland would likely have to part ways with at least two first-round Draft selections, in addition to a package of players that might include the likes of Nassir Little, Skal Labissiere and/or Zach Collins.

While it may seem like a steep price to depart with on the surface, it goes without saying that the franchise wants to capitalize on its window for contention in the Western Conference. The only team that was able to slow the Blazers in 2018-19 was the Golden State Warriors, who now boast a roster that is in shambles following myriad injuries.


While the rest of the West has stacked up on All-Stars duos (LeBron James/Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard/Paul George, James Harden/Russell Westbrook and Luka Doncic/Kristaps Porzingis) that seem primed to lead their squad into June, it could be the addition of a third All-Star for Portland that tips the balance of power.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are in Rip City for the long haul. Hassan Whiteside has looked solid in his first month with the team. Head coach Terry Stotts has led the team to the postseason in each of the past six years.




All of the ingredients for a run to the NBA Finals appear to be on the table, with Kevin Love potentially being the piece that puts them over the top and allows them to claw their way past what will be a tenuous journey through the Western Conference in

 

What could he give us that Carmelo is not giving us? Both are serviceable at best.

 

The difference is one is on a minimum contract and healthy and the other one has a 30 Million Contract and is injury prone

 

I think a lot of that depends on how much of this early start of Carmelo's we think is sustainable. Even if it is, Love is roughly twice as good at rebounding and assists. Better efficiency stats. Has a positive BPM, double the WS/48.

Obviously there's the acquisition cost of free for Carmelo and whatever we had to give to get Love. But my assumption would be, if Jody traded for him, she isn't too concerned about the $$, in which, I wouldn't then be either.

The way Carmelo has been playing, even with the negatives, I think it'd be even better for him to be on our bench, behind Love, coming in for the same ~25 minutes per night, and giving our bench a much needed scoring boost.
