Understandable. But, for me, it's more of an offseason-is-time-for-optimism type of thing.

    8. Cleveland deals Love to Phoenix No. 6 pick
    • Suns get: Kevin Love
    • Cavs get: Tyler Johnson, No. 6 pick in 2019 draft
The Suns are basically trading the No. 6 pick for Kevin Love, who they would have under contract for the next four years, right in line with Devin Booker and Ayton. That's a core that can grow for a Phoenix team that is going to have a hard time attracting big free agents. Tyler Johnson would have to opt into his final year at just under $20 million, which he will almost certainly do, to make the deal work. Cleveland is now off Love's money and owns both the Nos. 5 and 6 picks in this year's draft to truly kick-start its youth movement around Collin Sexton.

Great deal for the Cavs. Not so good for the Suns.

Don’t really see that moving the needle for the Suns.

Τhe point for Simons is he went 25th and he didn't really show that much after that to be considered an important trade piece. I remember last season that rookie
guy Alec Peters scoring around same pts Simons did against the Kings and then ending up in Europe. I agree Simons shows great potential, but I also believe nobody outside the Blazers currently value him that much. Better for us that we won't have to include him in a deal because i really believe in him. Again i repeat all he did is go 25th, have 3 decent games in G League and one amazing NBA game. This is not enough to change his status greatly.

This is assuming that the scouts for all the other NBA teams evaluate players the same way most fans on message boards do. Granted there are a lot of head scratching moments out there when teams make trades/picks , but I do think may teams actually do their homework and are not just looking at the box score of a few games like many of us do.

The bottom like is if we can we as fans can see potential for a player then every scout in the NBA can as well. What we as fans or the NBA scouts don't see, is what happens in practice on a daily basis.

No doubt the teams do their homework and have many more resources and information than any fan in an internet forum does. Even with that, some players will slip through while others won't live up to their hype.

One other thing is if I told you in this board that getting Ferguson or Diallo from OKC would be great many would say noo they have shown nothing, who are those nobodies etc yet in my eyes they showed more than Simons. Most fans overvalue their own players, hope is GMs don't.

We over value our own players more and we also shred them to pieces more as well. But it is irrelevant to my point. You said "nobody outside the Blazers currently value him that much".........how would you know that? How do any of us know what any NBA scout thinks of any of our players?

Based on him being chosen 24th one year ago and not having played more than 10 full games since then. How do they know if he did improve that much? They watch our practices? And of course i don't know 100%, but that's my assumption, but that's what we all do.

Can’t imagine how having Love, from ages 31-35, making $30m a year is a good thing in any way whatsoever.

I hope this guy doesn’t earn a check for his opinions. 50/50? Is that his professional “insider” opinion.

He's hilarious on the ESPN podcasts where he makes a bold claim/prediction and then pulls back on the key info he's supposedly trying to divulge because he doesn't want to get aggregated. His colleagues call him out on it and he whimpers back into saying the most useless shit like the comment above.

Right.. I get tired of people saying things like that. He would be a lottery pick in this year's draft.
