Dude Aldridge isn't even a lock yet for next season. When your best player isn't locked up you have got to have a plan B.
And as much as we all love to hate Love around here. He would be a decent plan B. Not as good as LA but decent. If I I had to bet, I would say most of us would take Kevin if LA was to decide to leave. Wouldn't we?
I mean, i'd rather have Kevin Love at pf than Meyers, but then again if you don't mind being bad for a few years you could start Meyers and watch him grow.
Meyers is more bang for your buck. KLove money pays half a bench of talent. Meyers is so young that I wouldn't gamble the future on KLove's paycheck
Considering he came back, twice, from what could've been season ending injuries (or at least with the most recent one, a much longer stretch) to HELP his current team...well, maybe it's not Damian who drinks like a fish.
Not that I'm supporting the move right now, but if ANYONE could convince the fans to take and welcome Love in, it would be Neil Olshey.
Back when there was a vocal contingent that argued Kevin Love was better than Aldridge, I was firmly in the camp that he was an overrated stat padder. I don't envision any scenario whereby Aldridge leaves the Blazers any time soon. It's not happening. As long as Aldridge plays for the Blazers, we don't have any use for an over paid Kevin Love. The question is moot. If love wants to spend his golden years coming off our bench on a reasonable salary six years down the road, whatever.
Kind of unrelated. But this LA and Free Agency has got me thinking about Pop and his master plan when and if Timmy was to retire. And if was to do so this season. I could see LA being part of his master plan. Bringing him to replace Timmy and his role. That would extend the championship window and his career several years. On draft day 2006 It was rumored that SA was trying to make a run for LA to be Timmy's eventual replacement. LOL. That was almost 9 years ago. But LA is from SA. Who know's the base to win a title is there with Parker, Ginoboli, Leonard and Pop. Concerns me that he might take that situation seriously. It's in Texas closer to home and Mom. It wouldn't surprise me. And it makes sense. Here is to hoping he is the kind of guy that wants to create his own mark in a different environment and that Portland is his stage to do it in. They need to resign him.
It was a typo and should have been edited among other things. The idea is he is closer to Dallas in SA. And it is Texas.
Honestly the only way I see Aldridge wanted to go back to Texas is if his mother has a relapse. Which god willing, she won't ever have suffer like that again.
Aldridge could be the next Tim Duncan for San Antonio. Just like how Tim Duncan took David Robinson place.
