Those guys would've made it even if they were awful defenders. Horford and Green are do it all swiss-army knives offensively and were helped by team success. Love is shooting terribly in the games he did play. He likely had to sacrifice to be on a winning team in general. Love isnt an all-star le el player right now. Hes a constantly injured stretch-4 who sucks on defense. And how the hell is Zach not "close to ready" now? He has a positive impact already and hes not even a third of the way into his rookie contract.
Gramps - “that kind of price” really? Leonard (dumping his contract is good), Harkless (dumping his contract is also good) so we are talking about Collins and a 1st pick (maybe 20th?) for Love. That’s a fantastic price! And we can always sell off Love down the road whereby we cannot say the same for Leonard. If Love will add ANYTHING to Dame, CJ, Aminu and Nurk - I jump on such a trade.
No to selling out for an often-injured player who's over 30 and 2ho sucks on defense while being inconsistent on offense. He wouldn't be the difference between where we are now and the WCF, so why sell out for him?
I watched his dad play in high school. His team played my school in the state playoffs in Eugene. So, why don't you like Kevin's dad?
Stan played for the Ducks from 68 to 72 I believe but graduated HS in LA...Danny Ainge went to South High School in Eugene..maybe this is who he played in HS...Stan was a bodyguard for the Beach Boys for years...read his brother Mike Love's book and you'll see Stan was a bully and a jerk...he would have made a great bad guy in Pulp Fiction
Collins doesn't need to be a star. He is young, healthy, useful, and on a rookie contract. Love is breaking down, is on a heinous contract, and his offense is no longer good enough to carry his atrocious defense.
I think Zach has potential but at this point he basically is just kind of there. He’ll make a shot once in a while or block a shot, but there are plenty of young guys in the nba who arw contributing much more than Zach does. Im not saying trade him for Love. I am not down on Zach but Im not really high on him either. He’s like the Blazers 8th man? Bench is basically ET, ML and Nik or Collins. I dont get why some Blazer fans seem to be all in on Zach, every time he gets called out for anything someone jumps on the he’s young you cant judge him stage, but then anyone who says they arent sold on him yet because he’s young and has basically done nothing is also called out. Im firmly in the he’s a very average nba player, but he’s young so, he’ll probably get better group.
So, like every single PF/C that's ever played under Stotts as HC? I think Collins possesses all the traits to be exactly what a starting PF on a great team should be. But, he's the latest example in a recurring pattern of undeveloped big men.
I hated everything about the LA/Terry combo. IMO, LA had about 6 good weeks that earned him the nickname "LaMonster", but those six weeks happened under Nate. Terry came in thinking he could use LA like Dirk, and I knew from that very first summer that Terry was an idiot. Rolo was the definition of average, and was pretty much the same player the day he left as the day he arrived (see also Ed Davis, Mason Plumlee). Nurk kinda regressed his first year under Terry, and now seems to be getting back to the player he was - but doesn't seem to be developing as a player.
Hes the best bench player on the team. Right now, he has a 62.0 TS% on 14pts per 36, with great defense (1.3 DBPM, 1.1 BPM). None of that is average at all. Hes an above average NBA player based on advanced stats and most peoples eye test, and you're out here saying hes "not ready".
Is 14 pts per36 really good now? 1.3dpbm isnt exactly elite. For the Record Im not saying trade Zach for Love... Just think this weird Zach is some untouchable type player thought is weird.
I never said it was good, it's below average. But not low enough to say his efficiency on the season is due to small sample size, IMO. I never said his defense was elite. You literally said hes not ready. That's false, but youre not really debating that right now..
He put up 18/9 and shot 42% from 3 just last season. Where did the sudden drop off come from? I think Zach's impact is being overstated. After his first few weeks this season, he's come crashing back down to earth. Maybe Love isn't the right target, but by no means should Zach be considered untouchable. I think he's a great trading chip.
Ready for what is the question. Can he be an ok guy off the bench? Yeah. I dont believe hes ready to be a solid starter, I wouldnt mind him starting so we can find out though. I dont think he’s anywhere close to Nurkic right now really on either end. So sure he’s ready enough to play 18 minutes a night, but he was sold as a foundational piece of the Blazers and he isnt even close to ready for that.
