yeah, I tend to agree Zach ranks 123rd in PER, 89th in rebound rate, 113th in winshare/48, and 112th in box plus minus. Those aren't terrible numbers, may even be 'above average' a bit, but they hardly justify 'untouchable' as for defense, he ranks 54th among 93 NBA PF's in DRPM; and that's only good enough for 132nd among all NBA players, and DRPM is a stat that favors big men. In total RPM he ranks 154th and in RPM wins, 159th Zach does rank 57th in block rate at 3.9%, but Harkless is at 3.8% and people want to trade him I'm fine with keeping Zach and I suspect, if Portland is not able to dump salary, Olshey will let Aminu walk in the off-season. That would make Zach the default starting PF
That defines this forum so well. People will lambast the token whipping boy for the same things others get a pass (or praise!) for doing. If this forum is to be believe (it's not) Mo and CJ are trying to bring us down from within.
Moe has been great defensively. People blaming him for our struggles are confusing correlation with causation, because are struggles have been primarily on the defensive end. I haven't been whipping Harkless for stuff that I've been praising Collins for. I've been praising both.
Which one? This one? There are about 10 different threads relating to Love to Portland. Shall we bump all of them? Let’s just get the party started early, shall we?
That was a reply to me saying that we needed to pick up an athletic stretch big like Mo Bamba. I don't want another 6'8" forward even if he is from the Portland Metropolitan Area. I think that this season both Trendon and Jabari have a chance to do what Love can now do better than Love can. Jabari especially is great at being less than ideally mobile for his size but hitting outside shots and doing the smart things on the court... I doubt he or Trendon have the outlet passes that Love does but I don't think I'd pay 28M more for outlet passes.
But the thread is about Kevin Love. Check my first post in here today that quotes @BigGameDamian’s comment about Kevin Love threads resurfacing. Bumping threads can be confusing though, huh?
I'm with you. I just didn't think @BigGameDamian should have ever mentioned him in a reply to my post since he's a terrible fit and not at all what I was saying we need. It was a pro bump by you but one you never should have had the opportunity to pull off.
If he was bought out, and the Blazers could get him on a min. deal, he would be a nice veteran player who, in spots , could be relied on to hit clutch shots off the bench.
How 'bout I reclassify it as a zombie since it was started 4 years ago and bumped for no valid reason?
I sincerely doubt it. We already have two 6'8" who lack ideal mobility, both of whom look like they can stretch the floor and rely on their BBIQ more than anything else... I know one is a rookie and the other is a second year player but that's a lot of redundancy with those specifics. I guess if Jabari and/or Trendon is/are traded before free agency next year that Love would be a possibility it just seems like with those two on the roster Love doesn't make too much sense.
That will be a year from now. Not really relevant today. Again, he's not getting bought out--there's no reason for the Cavs to do that. He might get traded, since he is an expiring deal, but the Blazers will not be in the market for his services this season given his salary and their hard-cap status.
Love's 21-22 season was his best in 5 years. He hit nearly 40% from 3. His DRtg was his best since turning 30. And most importantly for him, he was healthy, playing over 70 games for the first time since the Cavs won the title. He was a perfect bench big. If he were on this roster, he would easily supplant WWW at backup 4, and we'd be a better team for it. But not at $30M+.
