<div class="quote_poster">Quoting YourNewChef:</div><div class="quote_post">Bad chemistry?? They are good friends. They train together in the post season in Malibu. Figure this problem, Kobe can't afford to look like the bad guy and cause chemistry problems + KG wants a ring desperatly and is probably more than willing to sacrifice point production to get their = good chemistry. You're right about one thing, KG won't be traded. FA is our best bet, but according to an ESPN article he wants to stay in Minny.</div> Every body starts off as good friends. Remember the first championship when Kobe was hugging and kissing his "buddy" Shaq. What happened to their relationship. I agree with you about Kobe maturing and KG wanting a ring desperatley; however, Kobe is still taking a boat load of shots each game. It's not about Kobe trying to be the good guy anymore.......its about who is going to be first option, Kobe or KG?
The truth is, if this totally unlikely scenario ever occured I think KG should be the first option. Think about it, every single dynasty/championship team was anchored by a big man more or less. You can argue the only player under 6'9" to lead a team to a championship and a dynasty was Jordan that's it. And only because he was Jordan could he do that.
Good question, I think it would depend on the match ups and how the defensive schemes were, to determine who the #1 option is. The luxury would be having the option every game and both players would except it. The few times I've seen them as teammates, you can just see the chemistry they have for one another. They compliment each others games very well, and both play with intensity and high energy all game long.

Just because the past few championships have had centers and power forwards as MVPs doesnt mean that only big men can take you to a championship. The only reason I think KG would be first option is because he has better leadership skills and he's a bit more rounded; however, I dont think that without a big man a team is doomed from a championship. Its a team effort. Jordan was great but he didnt lead it all by himself. Forgetting Scottie Pippen and the rest of the Chicago greats.

For isaih thomas and billups they didn't single handedly lead their teams, those 2 detroit teams were very team oriented squads with no real single leader. Joe dumars could have been considered the leader or Bill Laimbeer as well as isaih and for the last detroit champion team people have said it was both the wallaces whoa anchored that team. Anyways the last 2 dynasty's have both been anchored by a big man, the 2000 lakers and the 2000 spurs.
