The worst thing you can say about Seattle sports fans is that they jump on the bandwagon of whichever local team is most successful. Given that they have the M's, Seahawks, Huskies and possibly Sonics, they've had a lot of chances to claim a favorite. Throw in the soccer team and Storm and you have even more possibilities. Whichever team is doing well will have legions of fans claiming they supported that frontrunner during the down time, but that's usually BS.

That all said, the Sonics fans were pretty solid fans throughout their history (although, also highly annoying lol.) Basically, prior ownership screwed up in the Key Arena renovation and the building was a dog the day it opened. Not enough suites or seats. It was immediately one of the smallest NBA arenas -- the Rose Garden opened the following season and it really hit home for me what a dog the Key was when I saw it. That really hurt local appetite for building yet another arena and Bennett only made the situation worse with the way they handled it.

I don't know the numbers, but it wasn't like it was a distressed franchise economically. The OKC guys wanted a team in their town and it was the easiest one to buy.

I posted above that it's actually different than that. Guessing that the Chris Hansen group leaves the Kings name and history in Sacramento...although, I guess he could maybe give it to Kansas City or one of the other cities the Kings called home. If I remember right, the Kings have called a fair number of cities home.

Ya the Kings were in K City and possibly Rochester, NY if I remember correctly. Other than that I appreciate those that are more knowledgable on the subject educating me. However, I still hate Seattle sports teams, although I find myself rooting for Russel Wilson. Ya I'm that guy

Yeah, I hear you. Personally, I'd be glad to see the rivalry back and get to see the Blazers when they come to town.

Yes you are wrong. Seattle will go back to being the Sonics and they, not the Thunder, will have the championship history. This was part of the deal when OKC took the team.

If Seattle gets a team then all you Washington-based Blazers fans will be able to get Blazers games on League Pass, right? !!

how ironic would it be if Seattle does end up getting the Kings, and they get the 1st pick in the draft?

scratch that, I'm totally predicting that.

WTF I am on the 53 minute mark. SO far, I just want nothing but failure for OKC Thunder. AT least until Clay Bennett loses or sells the team.

Agreed! A change of scenery (and management) is going to be good for this kid. Once he starts playing for a team that has self-respect most of his destructive tendencies will subside. I think Wes, Nic and Lillard will be able to do a good job helping him maintain focus and composure.

Yeah that did wonders for Sheed in PDX. I think we are all forgetting how "under-the-microscope" the local media is on the players. Even the leadership of Sabas, Pippen and Smith couldn't control the hot headedness of Sheed. Cousins is a far worse type of character. At least Sheed was a team type player. Cousins is selfish and only wants things for himself. You can see him yelling for the ball; even if he is going 0-10.

It worked when Sheed was moved to DET - they appreciated who he was as a person and as a player. They accepted it and by being accepted he actually cooled down - maybe not in terms of Ts, but in the way he perceived his team and how he worked with them. The problem was that POR wasn't willing to accept WHO Sheed was. And I think that our players - particularly Wes and Lillard - are far better suited to taking a hot-head under their wing than Sabas or Pippen. Neither Sabas nor Pippen was the sort of guy who was going to sit down and have a calm conversation with a guy like Sheed to try to get him to see the right path. Nor was Dunleavey. Our current personnel - players and coach - are much better suited to the "psychologist" role necessary with these sorts of guys.
And given SAC's lack of talent, I'd also want the ball if I was Cousins. But if he's playing on a team with 4 other guys who can score he'll be happier to win while still averaging 18+ PPG.
