The Kings are born and step on the court with an intersting situation of splitting their home games between two cities, Kansas City and Omaha 1975: The Kings drop the name Omaha from their name and become Kansas City Kings even though they still are playing some of their home games in Omaha. 1983: Before the start of the season, the Kings are sold to a group of investors in Sacramento. The Kings would manage to make the playoffs for the last time as the Kansas City Kings with the help of expanding the playoffs from six to eight teams and be swept in the first round. 1985: The Kings move to Sacramento and open to a sell out crowd of 10,333 at Arco Arena, a major change from the avarage attendance of 4000 from the previous year in Kansas City. 1988: Arco Arena II opens its new 16,517 Seat venue. 1989: Starting G Ricky Berry commits suicide just prior to the start of the season, Kings post their worst season of the Sacramento era at 23-59 2002: The Kings reach the Western Confrence Finals, loosing to the Lakers in 7 games. The series sets up not only a rivalry which has lasted since then, but also spawns a protest by consumer advocate Ralph Nader, contesting the results of the series and calling on commisioner David Stern to discuss the NBA's position on fining anyone who critisizes the refs, regardless of who is right or wrong, (as of this date, Stern has refused to do so) putting a large spotlight on how the game is called by officials. 11-9-2004: Chris Webber goes for 11 rebounds, 11 asists and 21 points as he becomes the first player in the history of the franchise to have a triple-double on the seasons home opener. 2005: Chris Webber, along with Matt Barnes and Michael Bradley are traded for Brian Skinner Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson (Who ironically was originally drafted by the Kings). 2006: Peja Stojakovic is traded mid year for Ron Artest helping to bring the team back into playoff contention. The Rick Adelman era comes to an end when he is replaced by Eric Mussleman. 2007: Mussleman is releaved of his coaching duties following the first season in eight years that the kings have not made the post season. Former King and fan favorite Reggie Theus is hired as the next head coach.
