Quoting AIRTIGHT:

Dwayne Wade 27.2 ppg 49.5% 5.7 reb 6.7 ast 1.95 stl .77 blk

Lebron James
31.4 ppg 48.0% 7.0 reb 6.6 ast 1.56 stl .84 blk

Steve Nash
18.8 ppg 51.2 % 4.2 reb 10.5 ast .77 stl .15 blk

<font color=""DarkRed"">Kirk Hindrich
15.9 ppg 41.8% 3.6 reb 6.3 ast 1.16 stl .26 blk

And in Nash's third year in the league he scored under ten points a game, and played in a total of only 40 contests. So if you really want to compare them by statistics, and not playing styles (which is what is being compared), Hinrich is ahead of the curb. Also for FreshPrince here are the numbers on Howard and Hinrich...

Josh Howard

PPG 15.6
RPG 6.3
APG 1.9
SPG 1.15
BPG .44
FG% .471
FT% .734
3P% .429

Kirk Hinrich

PPG 15.9
RPG 3.6
APG 6.3
SPG 1.16

BPG .26
FG% .418
FT% .815
3P% .370

Well then, you also have to remember Howard is playing on a championship level team-- where the key is to sacifice individual stats for team benefit. and also where he is not one of the first options- or the PG

Not getting this statement...

BTW: It's Hinrich remove the d from the name. It's Dwyane Wade. The Y comes before the A.

You still haven’t told me why Hinrich shouldn't be listed up there when talking about the elite players from the particular class. I was using Howard’s numbers as an example to show how good Hinrich has been, and why he deserves to be up there with the other names. Not necessarily to turn it into a Howard vs. Hinrich debate. I fully understand Howard is not the first option on his team, but despite the fact he plays for a contender he is still often times the number two option on the team, at worst number three. Just like Hinrich is to the Bulls.

hinrichs defense isnt always recognized because he doesnt always steal the ball or get blocks because he isnt the best athlete but since their is no stat for keeping in front of your man and putting a hand in his face, he wont be considered a great defender, which is BS because wade gets all nba 2nd team and kirk doesnt get Sh*t.

...he's a better defender than Hindrich

I really wouldn't put Howard up there either. There are really only two guys in that conversation when you talk about the elite players from that class-- because they simply are way out in front of the others... they're among the absolute best players in the league. So from <font color=""DarkRed"">Wade and <font color=""DarkRed"">LBJ as being top level superstars, you go to Melo who I'd characterize as being around the same status as a Ray Allen as a Superstar. Then you go to Bosh who's not getting his name out there/ playing where he is in Toronto; but abiliy and status-wise he's in a level between JO and Rashard Lewis; right around J Rich and A Jamison, I'd call him a mid-level Superstar. From there you got Howard, who I'd put right below Rashard Lews- who is a Star, and Howard would be a half-notch under Star. Then you got Kirk <font color=""Sienna"">Hindrich-- who id put at a similar level to his teammate Ben Gordon as a budding mid- level Star. He's right there where A Walker and Stackhouse are now in their careers.

I dont know what ya'll are looking for from me about Hindrich. He's decent-- but you cant actually expect someone to start talking about Magic, Jordan LBJ Wade-- and then Hinrich??
I agree, maybe his name should be out there more often just as an interesting fact about that draft class. _ but if you're suggesting the media keeps tabs on him and brings up his name and numbers everytime they do comparisons about that draft---- then I disagree. What has he done to warrant that?

If you want to compare players with AIRTIGHT, know that he doesn't care what year the players are in of their career. Nor does he care how much experience they have, he goes by season stats.

What's that now? I didnt make any comparisons here. These other guys made those comparisons. What's the comparison you mentioned havta do with me? -- Of all those players from the same draft who we're initially brought up for comparison, Kirk Hindrich has the most experience

You might not put Howard up there, but the media does. The whole reason I started this thread was because Wade was discussing the stars of that class he started naming names himself, Lebron, Melo, Bosh, Howard, but conspicuously left Hinrich’s name off. Maybe that will help you understand what I’m asking.

The thing he has done to warrant attention is turn around a Bulls franchise that before he got here had been losing since the Jordan era. Now given Gordon, Nocioni, and Deng where big parts of that as well. Hinrich was the floor leader, and controlled the game to the tempo that it needed to be played. His defense also is what the team is built around defensive toughness, and the never quit attitude. Like I said before he has received comparisons to Nash with his playing style, and no one here is claiming he is better than Wade or Lebron. However, he does deserve to be called one of those “stars” from the class of 03’ you can’t have Howard in there without having Hinrich there as well. You are misunderstanding the question that is being asked. It is not if they are all star players as of this point, but if they where stars from that draft class and if when mentioning stars from that class Hinrich’s name deserves more attention than it gets.

a little bit more. He is a quality player.-- but that's the idea of the draft; he's definetly not a star or anything close yet.

Depends on what your opinion of a star is. Not anything close to a star? That is where I disagree with you. He is not a star yet I will give you that, but he is more than on his way to becoming one. He was second on the team in scoring during the regular season and his assist to turnover ratio is incredible. A true point guard is never really suppose to score at the rate a Lebron or Wade does, but more so manage the game, get his points when available, and get his teammates involved all of which Hinrich does. Now like I said before he has received the Nash comparison, and give you look at the numbers he is not that far off right now, and this is only his third season in the league. If you compared the two by their third season stats Hinrich is way ahead of Nash at this point.

Now don’t misinterpret what I’m saying. Nash’s stats don’t even begin to describe what kind of player Nash is. Hinrich is not at the point yet, but he is heading in the right direction. To say he is no where near a star is unfair to him, and the role he is asked to play on this team. The franchise has already labeled him one of the corner stones of our future, and intend to lock him down to a big long term contract.
