Lakers dismayed at Kobe's reaction last night to something....
90% chance of trade. Bulls official confirms trade talks with Kings/Lakers, called them intense.
Lakers COVET Hinrich. They like that he's UNDER CONTRACT. Lakers feel Kirk Hinrich is the true 2nd best player on the team.
Completely up to Kobe whether a trade happens. (God damn that bastard if he rejects this deal, to try to get more contract going out so he doesn't have to waive his precious trade kicker).
Thats from Shuster, who is at the Berto Center.

I don't think any of the trade checkers are going to work for this deal.
Kobe has a trade kicker of $4.5M x2 seasons, which makes it so a team would need to come up with $20M to match for CBA purposes. Looking at the Kings salaries, it's going to take Bibby and Artest to make $20M+. You have to look at it from the bulls POV, as they're taking in the $20M of Kobe's salary, and it's going to take more than Hinrich and resigned+traded PJ Brown

The Bulls should just take Artest in this deal and the Lakers receive Deng & Kirk & Thomas.
Kobe-Artest-Big Ben would be ridiculous on the defensive end. Three players on 1st Team All Defense has that ever happened?
Lakers would build around Hinrich-Deng-Bynum-Thomas.
This seems far more realistic to me. Not sure how it works capwise though since Kirk is BYC.

The Lakers already paid 70% of Kobe's salary yesterday, so the Bulls would only be on the hook for the remaining 30%. I'm sure that would factor in as another positive to get Kobe now.

And they could have signed Mutumbo as a FA when he left Denver.

Actually how would Artest and Ben Wallace get along since those two were at each other's throats in the Palace Brawl?

David Shuster just said that its Hinrich and Bibby, with Bibby to be traded almost immediately.
I'm still trying to figure out how Gordon got demoted to some crap value, while Kirk got held up in high esteem on Deng's level of value in these trade talks.

Bibby and Hinrich? What the hell are the Lakers expecting to get for Bibby when he's injured? His trade value is at an all-time low.

Bulls Receive: Kobe Bryant
Kings Receive: Chris Duhon, Thabo Sefolosha, Viktar Khryapa, and Vladmir Radmanovic
Lakers Receive: Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, Mike Bibby
Makes sense if thats the trade. Lakers first dump off Vladmir Radmanovic's bad contract...and then they'd be moving on to dumping off Bibby on someone for expiring contracts (who is an easier dump than Vladman).

It has to be Bibby AND Artest. Bibby makes ~$13M, and Artest ~$7M. Roughly the $20M needed to match for CBA purposes.
Hinrich is BYC which makes the deal tougher to figure out. He's worth ~$5.5M on the bulls' side of the ledger and ~$11M on the Kings or Lakers side.
Bulls may have to resign both PJ and Sweetney in S&T deals to get this done.

Thisrumor is starting to get laughable. So now we get Kirk Hinrich AND Mike Bibby? How many point guards will be on our roster now? Hinrich, Bibby, Fisher, Crittenton, Farmar, and Karl. That's 6 players, almost half of our roster is going to be point guards? That's bullshit. Not even Mitch is stupid enough to pull off this deal.

Your frontcourt would be Artest, Odom, and Bynum.
Bibby is an expiring contract after the season, too.

I think the trade has to be bigger to accomodate Hinrich being BYC. So the $5.5M difference inbound/outbound is < 25% of the salaries involved.
BG7's deal doesn't work because the Lakers give out $20M and take back $28M, and it looks like the Bulls outbound is only $16M and they're taking back $24.5M.
(Unless I'm not figuring the trade kicker right)

I already said I don't think the trade checkers are right. Kobe has the only trade kicker in the league right now, and the chatter has been Kobe wanting a $30M extension and that he won't waive the kicker.
