The Jazz definitely were not not very physical with him. I think they they felt sorry for him at first, and it let him get into a rhythm.....which snow balled in the 4th. The refs also let him get away with even more than usual. (A few times he took about 5 steps without a travel call)

But by the 4th quarter, it was like watching Rocky XII. He looked liked he was going to collapse, but he kept making shots and feeding off the crowd. I wasn't sure how to react to it. Part of me wanted to see something special, the other part of me knew the result would end up with me not being able to watch or listen to any local sports shows in LA for a few weeks.

The good news is he will be gone soon.

I watched the last few minutes of the game too. My parents always told me to watch the best when they play, even for sports you don't follow. So we watched the world series, the super bowl, the olympics, etc. You may hate them, but you should watch.

My favorite moments were the cordial, not-quite-friendly interactions with Shaq. My wife said, "Man, that was polite... definitely not friends, huh?"

Fat chance; I mentioned "I'm glad this is the last I have to look at him" to my wife and she laughed and said "No way. He loves himself way too much. He'll be on ESPN or TNT or coaching or GMing the Lakers or in the spotlight somehow in less than 12 months."

He had a documentary crew following and filming him every game this season. That will come out soon, and you know how much hoopla will come from that

I wondered about that too. I don't think he can work for anyone with his ego. So no way he coaches. As for a GM...think Phil Jackson or MJ. Maybe someone will give him a shot, but I don't think he would be very good.

He will want to be part owner IMO. He better hope his wife does not reconsider the divorce and take half. He will need the money to buy into a team.

ESPN or TNT? You never know...he is very well spoken, but so "over the top" when he does. I can definitively see him giving it a shot, but not long term, and not with Shaq there.

Kobe will probably buy an Italian league team and retire there.

No, but we're steeped in the Kobe culture here... there's a lot of folks out sick today, and I doubt it's because they got drunk watching the Blazers game.

Seeing laker fans happy last night really was a reminder how much I fucking hate those pieces of shit. I know they've sucked the past few years so we kind of forget about them but they are really something I despise more than almost anything on earth.

She better be, as much as that apology rock cost...

Was she wearing it at the game?

Kobe is a legend and that was a legendary performance. I was totally in to it. However, the moment the game ended the L*kers immediately sunk to their all time lowest level of irrelevance with no discernible direction out. That is what makes Kobe's retirement so sweet.

I had a friend on Facebook post pictures of him crying at his house. Just like 4 pictures of his face, all dishevled and poorly lit crying. The funny thing is too me and another friend predicted he would do shit like that.

He was an electric player and I'm glad I got to see him on the court.

I also hope I never see or hear of him again.

It is fitting that Kobe ends by taking the most field goal attempts ever since now he has nine of the eighteen highest totals ever. I do not think anyone touches his record 14,481 misses.

Personally I prefer Jordan Crawford's final regular season game. 41 points but only 28 attempts.
