<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">It really does come down to a person's opinion. There's arguments to support choosing both players, but it is fun to debate. A lot better than the infamous Kobe vs. T-Mac debates. [IMG]</div>

Yea, I heard that. Those used to be very annoying. No one really had any views on it. "It was basically just Kobe's better!" then "No T-Mac's better!" [IMG] At least we can discuss the Kobe vs. LeBron topics intelligently. [IMG] It gives me a chance to practice my debating skills. [IMG]

I think everyone agrees these are two of the most talented players in the world, and the fact that each person can find reasons to back up their arguments shows that skills are definitely there. Kobe has bulked up now and is looking quite a bit more muscular, so that was my comparison about body types. I think as LeBron's game continues to develop, he can take a look at all the things Kobe has done to make himself better and put them into practice. That alone gives him the advantage of in time becoming a better player than Kobe. Therefore, i am still taking LeBron over Kobe.

See, the truth is that Lebron is better at 20 then Kobe or even Jordan ever were. And that is just flat out scary.

If I was going to build a team around someone for JUST THIS YEAR, then I would pick Kobe. But 2 years from now, you ask me who I'd pick and the answer is hands down Lebron, considering he doesn't go on a spiral like Vince did from 2001-2004. But I doubt he will.
2 years from now, Lebron will be to the league wat KG was last year I'm guessing, and the thing is he's only 22.
Kobe Bryant recently held that throne as the "young phenom" since he burst to the scene in his early 20's.
Lebron is doing better then what Kobe or anyone else did in thier early 20's and that's why he gets the edge for the future. And by future I mean the very NEAR future. It's getting to the level that you give him 2 more years and he will suprass even KG and Duncan, nevermind Kobe.

Right now though, I still give the edge to Kobe by a little bit and it has nothing to do with me being a Laker fan because I'll admit that Lebron will take Kobe's throne pretty soon.
See, Kobe came up as a superstar in his 20's and he's this good now, 9 years in the making.
Lebron is almost as good as Kobe now (at 26), and it's only his 2nd year and he is only 20 years old. Now imagine Lebron seven years from now. That is quite scary.

You guys must also include team sucess in this as well, not just individuality. Replace Shaq and Kobe with Shaq and Lebron (this year's) and would they have won the same amount of championships? No doubt I think they would have won one.
But what do you do when it's clutch time, you're down a couple and can't give it to Shaq because he can't make his freethrows? So that begs the question, would the Lakers rather have Kobe taking that last second shot to win a playoff game or would they rather have Lebron taking it?
The answer for now is Kobe so I pick Kobe for the moment. More experience, more tools, and more rounded offensively on top of that a better defender. Lebron is inching closer, give him a year or two before you officially stamp him over Kobe. For once, look past your bitter feelings towards Kobe and make a honest choice rather then just basing your choice because of your dislike for Kobe bcause I assume many of you have done that.
