Is there really much difference from courtside to television? Kobe's D was atrocious this year, he didn't deserve one vote.

I guess they're only basing it off the highlight plays like his crazy blocks and steals.

His D this year really wasn't that great at all, especially comparing to last year. Don't know how he got into All NBA 1st.

His defense was not steller by all means, but it wasn't exactly horrible. I'd say just about average. He showed a couple of flashes here and there, but definetly not All-Defensive First Team worthy

I thought Kobe making it over Battier last year was ridiculous, and it still is.

Sorry to bump this old topic, but I just checked Kobe's per 48 minute on/off court stats, and last year when he was on court, they were horrible on defense. This year, the team did better defensively when he was on the court.

    Odd.

I thought the point of naming an All-Defensive team was to recognize the best defenders in the league. Kobe on the first team is laughable.

Kobe's probably should be second team, not first team.

I don't really think he should be on either...

Ofcourse i'm glad to hear it (I didn't hear it now, but I just haven't post about it yet), but this is the time to say that Kobe is getting overrated in defense. He isn't that great defender anymore, when the offenisve load is on him.
