The 2004-2005 Laker season will be the start of the KOBE GENERATION. Do not lose faith, or go astray, if the Lakers do not do as you imagine. Teams go through cycles, this is going to be the first turn of the cycle of the NEW LAKERS next year. There is a new coach in town, RUDY T, you got a rising star Lamar Odom (contributed to HEAT playoff spot) a fresh pair of legs, Caron Butler, and a dirty-hustle-rebounding machine Brian Grant. Almost forgot the Triangleless Payton. We will finally see the team built around Kobe, rather than Shaq. With the right chem. of this new ball club, we will see a successful run in Laker Town.

These past years you have seen Kobe's brilliance on the hard-wood, that my friends, was the tip of the iceberg, as of next year you will see all his capabilities, the whole KOBE BRYANT, the KOBE which he dreamt of when he was a child watching Come Fly with ME in his home in Italy. The Kobe that gave us hope for the next MJ. The KOBE which will recieve the same recognition as all the greats such as Magic, Jordan, and Bird. The KOBE with countless titles, MVPS, scoring champs, the legacy will start next year.

LET THE SAGA CONTINUE...LAKERS PART II...KOBE BRYANT ON TOP...

HE'll finally get some real respect, rather than that "he had shaq" crap.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting crazytown:</div><div class="quote_post">BTW-Peja was drafted 14, Sasha 27th. There's a reason for that. And last time I checked, Mitch was drafting players, NOT J.West. If it West than youmight have a case. But he's not.
    </div>

So what is that "reason," because he isn't good? Where you got drafted means NOTHING if you are overlooked. What's the reason Ginobili got drafted #57 in the 1999 draft? It obviously wasn't because of his talent, anyone who has watched the Spurs knows that. Very talented players are passed up until late in the draft, or not even drafted all the time. Scouts miss talent, this is nothing new. Do you know who Ron Murray is? You know, that guy who was drafted #42 in 2002, and surprised everyone in the beginning of the season by averaging 20ppg? Another case of talent being overlooked. So, what's that "reason" you're talking about?

This is it! Kobe will act as a full-time leader of this new squad. It will be pretty much the same when T-Mac first arrived in Hill-less Orlando where he was asked to not only carry but lead the team full of veterans. This will be a tough test for Kobe as he has to be more vocal throughout the season and how will his new teammates react to his leadership remains to be seen. I have no doubts that whatever happens though, Kobe will keep on going and going until ultimately he earns his teammates' respect.

I also think the Lakers are going to be one of the sleeper teams in the league, advance to the playoffs, but like Rod Thorn said of his K-Martless Nets, I don't want to insult anyone's intelligence by saying the Lakers are still contenders with this new squad, although it is one of the best in terms of talent and athleticism. With some moves and smart drafting in the next couple of years, the Lakers will again fill the missing puzzles, be contenders, and be hated again. It's true that sometimes you gotta take a step backward in order to take a step forward. And last but not least, Kobe will retire with more than three rings.

    October 25 2002

Michael Jordan is suing a woman he accuses of trying to extort $US5 million ($9.03m) with a threat to expose their past relationship. The five-time NBA most valuable player admits in the lawsuit that he had a relationship with Karla Knafel more than a decade ago and paid her $US250,000 when she threatened to go public.

The suit filed in state court asks Cook County Judge Bernetta D. Bush to stop Knafel trying to extort another $US5m.

"Mr Jordan never agreed to pay Ms Knafel any amount - let alone $US5,000,000 - in addition to the $US250,000 he previously paid her not to publicly expose their relationship," the suit said.

Jordan's lawyer, Frederick J. Sperling, declined to comment further on the complaints. He wouldn't say whether Jordan had filed complaints with authorities.</div>

^ Man you guys are lame. Don't you know that 90% of life in the NBA is sex. They just got caught. Use your common sense. When they be shooting around before the games they look at the stands. They knock on their hotel rooms. They are happy on the road, cause they wife don't see nuttin...Just read some of the books...like Loose BAlls by Jayson Williams....the book by Dennis Rodman....especially Magic's "My Life"....

Why has this thread suddenly turned into a discussion about sex in the NBA?

First off, Kobe gets criticized more than any other player in the NBA today, mainly just because he committed adultery. Well, if people aren't gonna like Kobe just because he committed adultery, then I guess they shouldn't like players such as:

    Micheal Jordan
    Dennis Rodman
    Wilt Chamberlain
    Magic Johnson

All of the above have admitted to adultery. Even the greatest player ever, Micheal Jordan, admitted to cheating. But people still love him. [IMG]

Adultery is very bad; I am not saying it is okay to cheat, but the harsh reality is that the majority of NBA players have cheated on their wives. Some just get caught (see Kobe)

Bottom line: If you're gonna hate on Kobe just because he committed adultery, then hate on Jordan and the other greats as well.

Anyway that is the end of my rant--let's get back on topic please! [IMG]

Everybody stay on topic. This thread is supposed to be about Kobe staying with the Lakers and not about sex and the NBA. Keep the discussion going about Kobe and his future with our Lakers, or the thread will be closed. Thanks guys.
