^ With that rolling of the eyes smiley, why would you even wish of a professional basketball player to go to jail for rape?
wtf was wit Kobe's statement?? He practically admitted guilt ...wtf??? is this a sign of a settlement? EDIT: If u guys didn't hear it, he released a statement apologizing to the victim and saying something to the effect of "I sincerley felt that our encounter was concensual, but now I realize it wasn't " or something to that effect ...
All kobe fans (including me) celebrate. Every other team in the league cry your tears out now cause there will be many many more ass whoppin that Kobe will be handing out for anyone who dosent rememebr when Kobe came ionto the 2002-2003 season looking diesel you will see that same kobe like figure. Basically sept. 1st is a national holiday and all true basketball fans should celebrate

My opinion.
Shouldn't something be done about this lady? I mean, she did waste a lot of tax payer's money and time. She should be some way punished to send a message that you shouldn't go around accusing people of a crime just because they are a celebrity, have a lot of money, or have something that you want. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting jetlee6509:</div><div class="quote_post">Every other team in the league cry your tears out now cause there will be many many more ass whoppin that Kobe will be handing out</div>LOL ok? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting jetlee6509:</div><div class="quote_post">Basically sept. 1st is a national holiday and all true basketball fans should celebrate</div>Ehh, how bout we don't, unless it's a paid holiday

And he asked that this statement would not be used against him in the civil case. Its pretty clear that he's admitting he was wrong, which confuses the hell out of me. I think this is a sign of a settlement... I'll post the statment when it comes up on the net...

Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo. "Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter. "I issue this statement today fully aware that while one part of this case ends today, another remains. I understand that the civil case against me will go forward. That part of this case will be decided by and between the parties directly involved in the incident and will no longer be a financial or emotional drain on the citizens of the state of Colorado."</div>
I hated the statement. Something is going on. He gave her some money. What a lame speech by Hurlbert. Who's better at lying Hurlbert or <font color="Red">EDIT</font>" She's not a victim anymore right. Charges dropped. <font color="Red"> DO NOT mention her name - Ice</font>
This is some of the statemetn that Pamela Mackey released is different from the one that Kates lawyer is releasing. PM: "Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did," Bryant said in a statement read by his attorney, Pamela Mackey. "After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter."
IMO kobe was trying to say that he thought the girl felt the same way about what happened that night. maybe Kobe was just being a gracious winner by feeling sorry for her... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Originall posted by notMuchgame can u say gold digger?</div> GOLD DIGGER!! hell yeah!
I am confused..Did Kobe just admit to Rape because he know he is off? What the hell...The only explanation I can see of this statement is that he is looking at it through her eyes and seeing all the death threats and hate mail..but it still doesnt explain..Kobe...what did you do?

Can you say Kobe got Class. If you think about it he just wanted to make her feel better cause the girl is crazy she needs some serious help. She doesn't want to testify in the criminal trial but plans on continuing with the civil suit. I wonder is she knows that is the same thing just worse because all her history can come in, nothing can be held back. That includes both of them anything is in.
This is great for Lakers fans I guess but as a fan of the NBA I hate to see it's superstars, players, and staff get in any kind of trouble with the law. Sure you're not perfect but to even think about being doing something that would cause a crime would be and is wrong on that persons fault and everyone knows that and hopefully will forgive Kobe for it if haven't already done so, It's great that kobe isn't going to jail and can finally take this situation off his mind so he can focus 100% on his game and team and that this whole incident is over.
I think he's just trying to be nice and giving her the benefit of the doubt. Instead of saying something along the lines of: "In your face nyah nyah nyah! You ruined my season and now I'm gonna press charges for emotional damages using my team of lawyers!" He's saying that he believes she was sincere about her rape accusations. Which is very classy in my opinion. Although it makes no sense. It's either she had consensual sex and then decided to get some fast cash, or Kobe raped her. There's no way a mentally normal man can rape a woman and feel like it was consensual. Unless the woman had a really weird way of expressing distress... BTW, congrats to Kobe and the Lakers. Although I'd like to point out that the prosecution was pretty incompetant.
With prejducie baby!! Never going to happen again!! Yes!! <font face="geneva,arial,sans-serif"><font size="2"> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...2041EDT0868.DTL </font></font> <font face="geneva,arial,sans-serif"><font size="2"><div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Kobe Bryant case collapsed Wednesday as prosecutors said they had no choice but to drop the sexual assault charge against the NBA star because the alleged victim did not want to testify. </font></font> <font face="geneva,arial,sans-serif"><font size="2">With the parents of the 20-year-old accuser looking on, District Judge Terry Ruckriegle threw out the case under a deal that means no charges will be refiled. </font></font> <font face="geneva,arial,sans-serif"><font size="2">"The people have filed a motion to dismiss this case based on the fact the sole victim at this time is unable to go forward," District Attorney Mark Hurlbert told the judge. The letter is pretty much part of the deal to get the charges dropped. I wouldn't really look too much into it since I it was probably written by one of his lawyers to get the prosecutors off their backs.
