<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Emo:</div><div class="quote_post"> but in this civil suit...I understand the accuser's name will be used, but won't the explicit information appear on the suit as well? If I'm wrong, please correct me.</div> You are right Emo things will only get worse for her and KB in civil so there might be a settlement in the works which I'm kind of leaning towards. You know what's funny? She is trying to get the civil court not to use her real name, which I think we all know since I've post it, she wants to called by Jane Doe. Oh another fact Pamela Mackey is also a civil attorney so I think we might see her do some more great work, the women is a great attorney.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jesseca328:</div><div class="quote_post">You are right Emo things will only get worse for her and KB in civil so there might be a settlement in the works which I'm kind of leaning towards. </div> That is exactly why I said what I said. Its not going to be all dandy if this goes to civil court. Do I think Kobe will win, absolutely however it will be at the extent of having his life turned upside down and torn apart, piece by piece. Nothing good can happen for either side by this case going to court. All the people in the legal field I have talked to think a settlement will be made before this gets to civil court. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Civil case could be on hold of years if KB wanted to. Civil cases aren't like criminal cases were trial has to start between 2 or less years.</div> For lack of a better phrase: No Shit. Of course the case can be put on hold however it wont be indefinetly put on hold. Unless Kobe retires soon he will have to deal with this case while he is still playing in the NBA. No court will allow them to postpone it for 10-15 years, so Kobe will have to deal with this at sometime and my guess is they will just do it now and get it over with. What I mean by do it now, is settle this out of court and save everyone from the misery that a civil court case will bring.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hunter:</div><div class="quote_post">it will be at the extent of having his life turned upside down and torn apart, piece by piece.</div> You mean as opposed to......the past year? During which he couldn't take his wife to Disneyland without people thinking that it was an apology. The whole world knowing that he bought her an expensive ring. Losing endorsements. Losing contact with his parents again after just recently starting to talk to them again? All while fighting with teammates, management, and coaches on the side. Not to mention the less important fact that he lost his first finals series ever and that the Lakers lost most of their key players (3 of 5 starters and at least one bench player). I see what you are saying, but really his life has already been "turned upside down and torn apart".
im not really a laker fan but i am glad too that this is finally almost over and that we can see the great kobe return and become one of the best players again.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jesseca328:</div><div class="quote_post">Oh another fact Pamela Mackey is also a civil attorney so I think we might see her do some more great work, the women is a great attorney. </div> It's pretty strange that one of my professors from last year also taught Ms. Mackey. Not like I'll get any jobs representing Kobe anytime soon. The civil case will likely be dragged out a bit but they can't just stall forever. If the defense drags their feet, then the judge can use his discretion to arrange a date, so it's best if they work together and agree for a time that's sooner rather than later. In one case, the defense stalled 2+ years and the judge got so mad, he entered in a default judgment for the other party. The waiting is bad on the plaintiff as well, as she's paying attorney fees out of her pocket and probably would rather get a settlement to both pay for those fees and also to get the money now. It'll likely end up being settled after some preliminary motions, something like a few months or so, and Kobe won't have to make those plane flights all the time for this case.
I Think it's Obvious that the Civil suit will be settled out of court.sometimes it's easier to do this, rather than to drag this through court, which Kobe probably doesn't wanna do,and if the accuser didn't want to go to trial in the criminal case, why would she want to deal with this in the Civil suit?? Anybody think Kobe will settle out of court??
Interesting article. All should take a look. http://washingtontimes.com/sports/20040903-121721-6156r.htm
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR_SAC_KING:</div><div class="quote_post"> Anybody think Kobe will settle out of court??</div> I wouldn't want him to but I think is the best for him and his family. Going to civil is just going to destroy his image to the ground. The max the Kate can get from civil is around three but I think KB will open his wallet for more. I hope he makes her write an apology to Eagle County's taxpayers.

About her making an apoligy to the Taxpayers of Eagle county,i think that will <font color="Black">NEVER,EVER,</font> Happen.

I wouldn't believe that the girl tryed out for American Idol that is probably a sign that she would love to be in the spot light. The case wasn't favorable to either of them but at the end she will get what she want's, $$$$$$. I believe that when the check is sign and an agreement is reached KB will probably ask her that she cant, and all involve in the case, should never appear on TV, book deals, or any kind of media that will bring this back. Plus if they do bring this back he could file for slander or something like that.

At least the major part of the ordeal is over with.now Kobe can go back to doing what he does best.Play Basketball.

I think there's always a confidentially agreement.

Jesseca:Even after the civil trail is over(or gets settled if it comes on or not?)will the Kobe story just go away?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR_SAC_KING:</div><div class="quote_post">Jesseca:Even after the civil trail is over(or gets settled if it comes on or not?)will the Kobe story just go away?</div> Thanks but I wont take credit for what I haven't done, I get the articles from another board. I just pass the word of what people are really thinking of this case. I read all the articles I have learn much from this case. I will pass what you said to the poster. The KB case will never go away it will always be brought up in some manner. When another athlete is accused KB will be brought up. When ESPN and Fox Sports are making their list of most shocking moments KB will be there. When VH1 makes "Remember the 00's" KB will probably be there. When E! decides to have a marathon of True Hollywood Story KB will be there, etc. Is never going to go away it could have been minimize to an amount if the trial would have happen and he was found innocent. The only way that I could think of this being forgotten is if the amazing KB does some brilliant stuff in the court and brings back a couple of championships back to LA, which is going to happen: fingersx: .
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MR_SAC_KING:</div><div class="quote_post"> it's intrestring that so mant articles are coming out about her,and Kobe, and etc...</div> The articles were always there I'm just a new here and there isn't a real thread about the case where I can post all this info, which I can understand cause they want to keep it for just bball.

As far as the Kobe case going away...I Doubt it will happen,as the Media will always bring it up for whatever reason. Jesseca,i'm just saying what i'm saying cause i have liked the work you have done for the Board, and given us the 411 on Kobe and all.just giving my props to you
I found this in an LA Times article that I found very interesting. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bryant was back in Eagle on Thursday to attend a party with his defense team to celebrate the dismissal.
