I may not think Kobe is a good person (or was - can't say about how he is now), but there is no doubt there is no-one I fear more playing the Blazers. Talk all you want about Lebron's game but Kobe is killer.

It is sad to see him go down. Laker or not, the guy can flat out play year-after-year.

Personally, I hope it is not career ending but that he comes back and plays well. Again, I may not like him but he is is a flat-out player. I can only hope that the kind of player Lillard becomes has has some of the killer instinct that Kobe has developed.

Much respect for him. I will admit to hoping it costs the Lakers the playoffs but I'd rather not see Kobe hurt so seriously.

I'm upset Kobe's hurt because I wanted to see him on the court when they lost their shot at the 8 seed. I've been looking forward to it all year. I don't hate Nash, Pau, and DHo that much. Now Kobe can think "we would've made it if I hadn't gotten hurt." I hate that.

The way the guy was playing, it is probably the truth. Heck, they may make it anyway and that is all because of one guy's absolute desire to win and incredible skill.

If it's career ending I would have to think that Howard will bolt this summer. Why stay in LA? They have an old Nash, Artest, and Gasol. I would get the fuck out of dodge if I was him.

Of course they do. Cushy Steve Blake who always asks for $4 a year for his salary. Wow, hes a nobrainer and is signed every year. He must have a good nest egg right now for his family. :D

    Re: OT: Lakers win *$@!(&!!!

    That is a strong probability.

The tax that the Lakers would have to pay on his 30.4M contract is pretty staggering, over 87M. By using the amnesty, it also puts them in position to do a sign and trade with Howard if they needed to.

    Facebook post from @KobeBryant:

This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??

I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.

One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.

"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.
I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.

    Mamba Out

I'm most interested in the ramifications this opens for C's being available as IMO Dwight is now 90% gone from Laker Land and teams like HOU especially and LA Clips as well could be in the hint, making C's like Asik and Jordan available for capspace and maybe Leonard or pick.

This reminds me of the Knicks injury issue in 1999, when Patrick was injured..during the playoffs? and the Knicks went on to the Finals as the 8th seed.

I don't want Kobe to be injured either but you're getting carried away. This is part of the reason I don't get along with most laker fans, their fandom makes them lack nuance about basketball.

Chris Paul was playing better and he is someone you should fear more, the way people ignore players like him to talk about players like Kobe or Westbrook who take bad shots is pretty sad.

Man, wouldn't you know that the Lakers would catch a lucky break like this? Sucks for Kobe, but for the organization, it's a gift. I mean, it allows them to do what they should rightfully have done this summer anyway (but probably couldn't have for PR reasons) and amnesty Kobe. They were scraping this season to try to make the playoffs with a mix of bad chemistry and bloated egos. With luxury tax implications, Bryant would have cost the Lakers something like $80 mil next season. Even for the fatcat Lakers organization, that's a hell of a hit for a guy who demonstrably this season isn't working with the rest of the roster. Now they can amnesty him with the full understanding of their fanbase and get a one year head start on a major rebuild that's severely needed. I'd think that this may even improve their chances of re-signing Howard now that they can sell him on the idea of him being the big star in the Laker universe.

Damn Lakers get all the luck.
