Not sure if this was mentioned in the local media, but while discussing the tribute the Spurs paid to Kobe, Mychal Thompson pointed out today during his radio show that Portland is the only city so far NOT to honor Kobe during his farewell tour. I had to laugh about that. I hope we end up being the only ones.
I heard that on the radio too. WTF? Do they honor other teams' players when they retire? I thought his complaint was total bs.
They should set up a curtain and when he's about to shoot free throws, open the curtain to reveal the concierge he raped....
Historic players have been given farewell tours in their final year (if it is known that they are retiring.) They did it for Kareem. They did it for Jordan as well, I think. Hell, I think the Miami Heat retired #23 in his honor.
