What he said was that he's "healthy". There's a big difference between the same player you were pre-ACL injury and not experiencing pain during the game. Seriously though, can you mention ONE player who had a major surgery and came back successfully in mid-season? He was completely out of shape, didn't know Frank's failure of "motion offense" and hadn't played in a year. We'll see what kind of player he really is around early December. He'll play for the National team, he'll come in a little exhausted into TC. He'll become familiar with NJ offense/defense and will get into "NBA Shape" during the training camp. After 5-10 games he should be the same player he was before injury, maybe a bit better because he actually worked out. If he still sucks then, throw him under a bus.

Before his injury he was seen as probably the lone bright spot on the Nets. He gets an injury that is one of the most devastating in the NBA and is trying to come back. Hell, as he said, normal recovery takes up to 18 months. And it's not like he was a perennial All-Star before the injury. He was a good player on a team with a thin front court. He comes back when the team went through hell, and is trying to get into the playoffs. He gets sent home because he came back too early and wasn't ready for the game. If he can keep from re injuring his legs this upcoming season, he could add significantly to NJ offense. He's also only 24.</div> Sober post! Sober analysis. Nenad wasn't tearing it up on D even before injury and people blame him for his softness now, after one of the most dangerous injuries in sports, that leaves its mental imprint on person' further activity. At this point I have mixed feelings: I want Nenad to stay and regain his form, but seeing this outburst of criticism I wouldn't mind him leaving and succeeding with another team just to shut all the haters up. </div> Yea he will definitely shut the haters up when he learns how to play defense and be more than a 7 footer who can hit jumpers. Those are dime a dozen. J.J. Redick can score but he can't play defense. That is the reason he has been on the back of milk cartons. Krstic is a good scoring but when you have players like Haslem and other players smaller than him bulling him in the paint it doesn't speak well. So if any team wants to over pay for a player who doesn't improve on d will be just another bench player who had promise go ahead. Yea he is coming back from an injury but he has not shown no reason why the nets should invest in him and say he is our future. </div> I can't believe you're comparing Krstic to Redick. Krstic isn't one-dimensional like you try to make him out to be. Yes, he doesn't have great defense, but he's a multi-facted, talented scorer from the wings and the post, runs the fast break, and is a good rebounder. Redick is an undersized shooter, that's it. Absolutely terrible comparison. And Haslem bullying him? Have you checked out his results vs Haslem for his career before you even said that? 2006-2007: Regular Season vs Miami: 36:47 MPG 55.6 FG% 8.0 FTA 75.0 FT% 8.5 RPG 1.5 SPG 0.5 BPG 16.0 PPG 2005-2006: Regular Season vs Miami: 29:30 MPG 31.0 FG% 2.3 FTA 71.4 FT% 6.0 RPG 0.3 SPG 1.3 BPG 7.7 PPG Playoffs vs Miami: 32.20 MPG 43.1 FG% 3.2 FTA 62.5 FT% 6.4 RPG 0.2 SPG 1.0 BPG 10.8 PPG 2004-2005: Regular Season vs Miami: 17:18 MPG 38.9 FG% 4.7 FTA 85.7 FT% 3.0 RPG 0.7 SPG 0.0 BPG 8.7 PPG Playoffs vs Miami: 38:50 MPG 56.3 FG% 6.0 FTA 79.2 FT% 7.5 RPG 0.3 SPG 0.5 BPG 18.3 PPG I'm not saying that Krstic will become defensive player of the year, but when healthy, he is a talented scorer and a pretty good rebounder, and nowhere near what you make him out to be.

He didn't have an offseason to get prepared. The preseason game you referred to occurred in his 10th month back after surgery. A typical recovery takes between 12 and 18 months. Most players use off-season to relax and to get better. He spent it doing rehab for ACL. That's an exact opposite of relaxing and getting better. He didn't take a couple of weeks off midseason. Nets sent him home for a couple of months because his conditioning was severely lacking. And as I said, he didn't say he was ready. He said that he'd like to play and that "he's 100% healthy". There's a difference between feeling 100% healthy and being ready to play in the NBA under his circumstances. He's not supposed to show improvement at this point. As I said earlier, he came in knowing pretty much nothing about motion offense, having not played basketball since December of 2006 and in no physical or mental condition to play. Having a major injury does that to you. Drafting in general is a question mark. If the Nets are actually able to move up in the draft, taking Kevin Love would be a mistake. If they don't move up, and actually draft Love and not trade him, that would mean that we're bringing the same team back as this year. And pretty much everyone wants a (near) major trade at this point. There's a good chance that the pick will be included in that trade (for Brand for example). Regarding Kevin Love specifically, there's no proof that he'll be as good as Krstic. Krstic was projected to be an 18/8 player. He came close, posting 16.4/7 in 32 mins in 26 games he played that season. Kevin Love will come in as a rookie, prone to rookie mistakes and will end up in Frank's doghouse for at least a little bit. I think that keeping Krstic for $5 for 2 years is a sound plan. If he actually comes back and plays great, we get an instant bargain big man. If he doesn't, there will be a team that will take a chance on him, and trading him wont be too difficult. Plus, his contract will run out during the LBJ sweepstakes.
