I don't get the love for Collins. If I were coaching or GMing the Nets, I'd be looking to eliminate his minutes entirely. The guy's a threat to put up triple-goose-eggs every game.

the question is whether that matters, and if so, how much. Would you want Marbury on your team because he can score 20 points and pick up 6-8 assists? Collins does some things very, verywell, and some things very poorly. He isn't average in anything, really. Is it better to replace him with someone who is very good and very bad at different things (for example, Nachbar)? Or someone who is average at everything (for example, Malik Allen or Magloire)? The thing is, there are no right and wrong answers. It's a matter of preference, and also a matter of who is is on the team. Boone, for instance, would score a few points and grab some rebounds, but it's obvious that the Nets would be much worse off if he played instead of Collins at this point. I'd love to replace him with Pau Gasol, but that probably isn't very realistic.

For my part, I accept that he is part of the team and will play somewhere between 15-25 minutes a night. The question seems to be: what situation should Collins be placed in to maximize his strengths and minimize his weaknesses? I have an opnion on that as everyone knows.

Well sure... you could swap him with Kendrick Perkins and the Celtics wouldn't miss a beat. But so what?

I actually agree that based on the fact he can box out, play defense and set a screen he's overal better than Allen, who can box out and set a screen but plays like he's burried in mud. Allen can his a shot though, but on the whole I'd take Collins' defense.

But I don't know that, in the long run, the Nets wouldn't be better if they got Boone some more PT and he started to have a better sense of how to play the pro game. I don't see why he couldn't do everything Collins can and more. Allen is a bit slower, but I don't think there's much difference there either.

So now we have Allen and Collins on the court together. Why don't they just wear their warm-up suits while playing?

Contributes to wins? I don't buy it. 41-41 is medicore to average. How many wins this season?

My point is you can trivially find big guys who can give you what Collins does and then some. The "and then some" makes the Nets a better team and have a better chance to win games. You get that "and then some" with Magloire, who I'd play over Collins in a heartbeat. Not that I wouldn't be looking to upgrade players at every position when possible.

You forgot that Marbury would also add 5-6 dimes in addition to that.

IMO, If you don't make any change, and be very conservative. This team has ZERO chance to win.

I'd rather to take the risk, an to see what will we be changed if we give up on Collins.

In fact, I think Perkins is more a threat that him.

Collins: Foul trouble man. Can't finish, to lead the opponent big man to double the other players of ours.

    Can't rebound, Can't block.

No, you can't easily find big men that can provide what Twin does. The Magloire comment is laughable.

The Nets record last season isn'r reflective of the team's talent level because of injuries.

    I hate our coach

    I second that.

I haven't bought into Malik Allen the minute he came here. I expected him to be gone before season started..

Why the hell is he still here? Why the hell is he still getting minutes? Why the hell hasn't a Nets fan strangled him to death?

Really. This might be the worst move ever.

Of course, I'm also secretly hoping that a starting Malik Allen is better than a Malik Allen off the bench, but I'm extremely doubtful, because his offense sucks and he doesn't even realize that defense exists. Might as well have Cartwright out there starting at PF.
