Did you get to watch the game? Griffin couldn't do squat against Aldridge's defense. He got a lot of rebounds and some put-back points, but it was clear that Aldridge was the more experienced and dominant player that night.

If Griffin had outplayed Aldridge head-to-head on 1/20, then perhaps the Clips are 4-0 for the week and Griffin wins the award. As it is, he couldn't, they aren't, and he didn't.

    Neener. (to him, not you)

Griffin shot 6-17. Aldridge shot 13-20. One guy helped his team A LOT on both ends of the floor; that guy's team won. Seems pretty simple to me.

Green bay has passed the pats, jets on being arrogant and classless. It's just like the ducks vs auburn.... Sec/afc are just better and tougher football then the pac10/NFC . Packers and that punk overrated Rodgers will get theirs. I'm sure Joe buck calling the game will make packer fans creme themselves. He's the most bias announcer I've ever heard when he does national packing-.

Interesting. I thought the LA Player of the Week would be restricted to Clippers or Lakers?

If you put Griffin on the Blazers, and Aldridge on the Clippers, the Clippers would have gone 4-0 and Aldridge still would have won Player of the Week.

Aldridge is on a lousy team too. We're only not completely lousy because of him.

Shooter, the stats don't tell the whole story. I watched the game and Aldridge destroyed him.

Would that one loss be the game where LaMarcus made Griffin look bad. Is that the game you are talking about?

Sorry Mix--I agree with you on hating the Packers and that the NFC is generally inferior to the AFC, but to call the Packers arrogant and classless and Rodgers a punk seems baseless. I haven't seen anything from them that justifies that.

In fact, I'm faced with a dilemma for this year's Super Bowl. As a Vikings fan, I can't root for the Packers. But if any QB deserves to have his team rooted against, it's Roethlisberger, whereas Rodgers is the definition of class. What do I do? I think the best I could hope for would be for Clay Matthews to injure Big Ben with a cheap shot in the first quarter, knocking him out of the game and getting himself ejected, and then have Dixon come in and lead the Steelers to victory. But seriously, what are the chances of that?

Wrong. Watch the game (or more carefully).

Griffin was allowed to travel on his "moves". Griffin was allowed to go over the back at will, helping his rebounding. Griffin got sent to the line more than a rookie should be gifted.

And yet, Aldridge dominated that game. I don't care about the stats. All you had to do was look at the body language of Griffin and the Clipper coach. They were upset at their inability to get good looks for Griffin and the inability to stop Aldridge when it mattered. That's dominated.

Yep. Not only did Aldridge put up better overall numbers, he did it while while covering Griffin one-on-one for much of the night.

Griffin wasn't guarding Aldridge for most of the night because he flat out couldn't do it. Aldridge had the center on him all game and the doubleteams were coming from everywhere.

Even if the stats were completely equal, the ability of Aldridge to guard the other team's best man while Griffin couldn't is the real key.

    Like I said:
But it is a testament to how good Griffin is. He had a bad game and still put up 20/18. He's on his way to becoming the best PF since Timmy.

He took 13 foul shots. Those numbers aren't quite so impressive when you factor in that 8 of his points came from the stripe, so really he was just 6-17 for 12 points. That's really not that impressive.

Getting to the line is a skill that LA hadn't mastered until his 5th season. Griffin absolutely does get his fair share of shady calls, but he does know how to draw contact.

Please, the guy is coddled, just like Durant, Wade, LeBron, and all the other "anointed ones".

Yes, it is. What does that one game have to do with the overall week, which is what the award is called?

I wouldn't say LA "dismantled" Griffin. Played him tough though and forced him into some turnovers down the stretch. Don't know if he deserves it more the Griffin, but I think this is a reflection of his past months achievements maybe.

Great news for LMA and the Blazers!

EDIT - wow, this board can't even celebrate LMA's big week without it devolving into a bitchfest. :)

What fun would a forum be if all that was posted was people agreeing with each other?

I've been on one of those... It's a lot of fun.

This forum is like having hate sex with your ex... again.

    Congrats LMA!
