Great idea, except for the part about making her an “allegorical figure”, I would much rather honor a real black woman. (If “black” is still the PC term to use? Not trying to offend, just can’t keep up with the latest PC terms that change so quickly)

Honoring a real person on a coin or bill is an excellent way to expose our kids to our history. I am sure we have plenty of black women in our history that made an impact, and could be honored.

Instead of building on our own traditions, we appear to be removing the ones we had.

If he's afician american, she also appears to have gotten a nose job. They are also fat shaming and being ageist by using a relatively young and thin looking person.

“The 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary Gold Coin is the first in a series of 24-karat gold coins that will feature designs which depict an allegorical Liberty in a variety of contemporary forms-including designs representing Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Indian-Americans among others-to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the United States,” reads a press release from the Mint.

Well if your mission is to reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the United States, how do you leave out the most numerous?

I pasted that from a news feed from the US Mint about the coin.....read it and you'll see the ridiculousness of saying I'm on a high horse.....Liberty Coins celebrating 225 years of diversity and you bitch about a black woman represented.....then say the majority of the population are getting ignored...who's on a high horse? We have commemorative coins featuring birds....ships....buffalos...lots of imagery. Look up Liberty coins and see how many of them are white folk.....it's not even close..

A comment is not a bitch. It was a comment pertinent to what you posted. I don't want to read the figgin thing. If what you posted is not correct, then my comment is probably off the mark.
Yes you jumped on a high horse, why I don't know, but I am willing to leave you there now. Ta ta.
