Wont happen Payton has nothing in him anymore. Cook wont amount to anything. So its like trading butler for kidd, and that is a stupid trade......

I forgot in my other post, why would the Nets wants Butler? They have a better 3 man in Jefferson, and I don't see them changing either to 2 guard.

Okay...are you guys kidding? I mean...for the ones who say the Lakers are getting the great deal...no way. Payton will be much more effective than Kidd next year, and plus...why risk taking in a 5 year contract, when Kidd may not last that long in the league? Guys (and ladies)...Kidd is 31 or 32 years old...and he's having knee surgery and could very well miss the first few weeks of the season. I would have loved to see Kidd play on the Lakers a few years ago, but now? If the Lakers trade away Payton for him (if Payton was making nearly $16 or $17 million a year), then it would be a ripoff then, also...just Payton for Kidd...but in reality, it doesn't work salary wise...and IMO, it doesn't work talent-wise either...because having bad knees is a disability all of its own as a basketball player, but having bad knees that were previously operated on...that's like a cripple waiting to happen. A cripple in regards to the Lakers' cap room and team play within two years.
