Sry to bump this but lately the Lakers Forum has been filled with stupid topics and pointless threads. This was a good topic so why not keep it going

So how could he start at the 3 for this. 2nd of all: you need to get off Kobe's dick. He's averaged about 22 ppg for you guys in his career and was never the Finals MVP. That went to Shaq. Elgin in 14 years with the Lakers averaged 27, 13 and 4. And now your gonna say Kobe is better then him?I dont care about records. Those mean nothing really in terms of the greatest player. I dont care about single game records. Wow, I guess Elgin wasnt the leader of the Lakers for 12 seasons, was he? That is only because KG and Tim Duncan both had bad years this season. And DWade and Lebron are too inexperienced to be called the best. Elgin wasnt the best of his era because he played against guys like Wilt, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, and Hondo. How could he be the best player with that group? Seriously. Jerry West was not the sole leader of the team at all. West was the point guard, but Elgin Baylor scored more, rebounded more. Also, that is a rediculous statement. Who was the leader of the Lakers before Jerry came? Elgin was the leader before Jerry really came into his own, and also he was arguably the leader the whole time. And since when does being the sidekick lesser you? It doesnt make Kareem or Magic any worse because they were dual-leaders of the show time team. It just means you played with good teammates, so what. Also, Kobe was not thew leader until 2 years ago. So how are you gonna say that when Elgin led for more time then Kobe did.. Exactly, Phil puts him at the 3 sometimes. He cant be classified as the 3 if his main position that he plays 4/5's of the time is the 2...This post wasnt a shot at you, but a truthful answer..</div>1- Elgin baylor's play was behind's the lakers doom in the the 60's , i think Lakaboy said that2- Secondly find me the avergaes of when Kobe bryant started. And please don't tell me kobe wasn't good enough to start, Jerry west said kobe's work out was the best he's seen. Del harris just didn't start him, when kobe started he averaged 20. Kobe's averages 28 as a starter3- If you actually watched Baylor he is not even as half talened as Kobe. Kobe blows him apart in nearly aspect and yet you dare say Elgin is better than kobe? Please, go watch Elgin and please tell me he is even in kobe's league. The guy is not as talented as kobe. Period. Kobe has the rings on him, the clutchness and was not a detriment to his team's winning.Kobe easily.

Look at karl malone, if it wasn't for john stockton would he have been as good? no! good but not where he is now. MJ won nothing till he got PIP, wade had shaq, when kobe had shaq they had a three peat, and kobe now is even better than he was then. Give him a side kick (no not lamar) thats equivellent of jerry west and then you will have a comparison. Jerry west is one of the great all time point gaurds, and as anyone knows a great point gaurd makes his team mates better. Kobe has got who?????? smush? hahaIn 10 years time kobe's name will be up there with MJ
Starter/BackupC: Kareem/ Wilt ChamberlainPF:Bob McAdoo/ Happy HairstonSF:James Worthy/Elgin BaylorSG:Kobe Bryant/Michael CooperPG:Magic Johnson/ Jerry WestCoach: Pat RileyOfficial Cheerleader: Mark MadsenUltimately, I chose Wilt over Shaq because Wilt is a better defender and rebounder. Kareem is the starter of course, for the obvious reasons. My Power forwards are Bob McAdoo and Happy Hairston, I don't think that needs much explanation either.SF's are James Worthy, Elgin Baylor, a good combination of offense, defense, speed and rebounding.Kobe starts at SG because he may possibly be the greatest Laker ever when it is all said and done. Michael Cooper backs him up, talk about a high scoring position, not to mention strong defense from the two.Magic, of course is the PG, he will run the show through either Kareem or Kobe in the half court, or they will just run run run. Jerry West will provide most of the scoring at that spot.I think Pat Riley suits this team best.Note: Wilt Chamberlain will be in the lineup when they are running, his dominant rebounding and superb outlet passes will make this team unstoppable on the break, Kareem will play in the half court sets.Talk about a badass team.
