Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) Source:SilverScreenandRoll I don't think Game 2 is a must win for the Magic. If they can hold serve at home they only need to win one of the next two in LA.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) Disagree. It is definitely a must win. This is the NBA Finals. It is damn near impossible to win 3 games in a row, no matter where you're playing. Against these Lakers, who haven't had a 3 game losing streak all year long, I'm willing to say it is impossible for Orlando to come back from Orlando up 3-2. If they lose tonight, the best they can get coming back to LA for a game 6 would be down 3-2. So in essence, game 2 is a must win for Orlando.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) It's damn near impossible, but it is possible. I know Game 1 was a blowout and lopsided affair, but Orlando is capable of shooting their way into any game. Orlando's three best players were terrible at the same time in Game 1. I doubt that happens again. If you look at a replay of Game 1, Orlando had a lot of open looks, but couldn't convert them. The Lakers also destroyed them on the glass which isn't something we've been doing consistently. Obviously Game 2 is important for both teams, but it's too early to label something must win. Would you consider Game 5 in Orlando a must win for the Lakers if the series was tied 2-2?
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) No, I think it is a different situation. The last two games would be in LA, and I'm confident in our ability to push it to 7. This team hasn't lost 3 in a row all year long, why do you think it is possible they do it, now?
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) Does anyone else get bothered watching J.J. Redick. The Magic get in foul trouble in the first half. Redick comes in. You wait for the guy to seize the moment, as he's going to get wide open shots, but then the guy just comes out and sucks. No one should be coming out and sucking that much when they should be seizing the moment.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) why was kobe walking down the court during the last posession?
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) hmmmm...... All I can say is.. ITS KOBE TIME. This game has been way too slow!!!!
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) If this is a Kobe game winner I will jizz in my pants....
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) In that situation, I would rather have Kobe shoot a jumper. Damn it... they have time...
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) You guys just got lucky. Gasol just got away with a goaltend on that shot.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 1-0) Wake up 4.20 AM - Costs me 2-3 hours of extra sleep Watch Lakers win in OT - PRICELESS!!! THANK YOU LAKERS!! Lamar is THE MAN. Please give him a new contract!
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) Tough win... had to hold my breath for that one. I will be stunned if we win game 3.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) Courtney Lee's miss gave me a minor heart attack.... DAMN!!!
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) There are two ways in which that could be a goaltend. 1. If the ball was above the rim when Gasol touched that. That's automatic. I haven't seen the postgame replay and probably won't until it's up on youtube because I'm not turning on ESPN (hard enough getting through these games, they need to switch the Finals to TBS and just use the TNT crew). Not sure where the ball was at that point. But where it goes to a judgment call to the refs is on the vibration. If you cause a vibration (which grabbing the rim automatically does, impossible for it not to...PHYSICALLY!!!) in the backboard. Then it goes to the refs for a judgment call to the refs on how big the vibration is. Still, even if it was a goaltend, it wouldn't be the refs worst infraction this playoffs. Not even comparable to the flagrant no call, when Rajon Rondo took out a baseball bat and hit Brad Miller in the face in Game 5 of the first round. If that calls goes differently, Ben Gordon goes to the free throw line, hits 2 freethrows, ties the game, and the Bulls get the ball with a chance to win or take it to overtime. If the refs called that correctly, Bulls might have knocked out the Magic, and you wouldn't even be playing them. Stan Van Gundy kind of deserved the loss by playing J.J. Redick 27 minutes. That'd be like Phil Jackson playing Adam Morrison 27 minutes. Lakers woudl lose. If Redick is hitting his shots, leave him in. But the guy was like 0-6, yet Ron Jeremy still left him in. Up 2-0, there is no way that Phil Jackson loses this series. Move aside Red Auerbach, your'e about to officially have no claim on the best coach title.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) Holy fuck I cannot believe we managed to escape with a win. Holy shit my heart was ready to explode like 50 times. That last minute was brutal, thankfully Pau's a beast and sent it to OT. Nice block by Hedo btw, all ball. When the game went to OT I knew we were gonna win. This is what experience does for you. Pau was a fucking beast, I love him. Derek has really stepped up in the Finals, he has taken a complete 180 degree turn, and to think at one point people were saying Farmar > Fish Still cannot believe we won. Lamar did well offensively but his stupid defensive lapses pissed the shit out of me. Guard your man. Rashard is a beast, that guy scares me. Bynum needs to do something about his fouls. He picks up stupid fouls which takes him out the game. That 3rd foul was just idiotic, diving and trying to get a steal? I knew it was gonna be a foul the second I saw it. Anyways we won and that's all that matters. 2 more left to go, let's close this one out in Orlando. No more bullshit like today, that was too intense. GO LAKERS!!!
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) Ugly win, but I'll take it. I wanted to reach through the TV and strangle Lamar Odom for losing Rashard Lewis on defense. Lewis was the only player doing any damage in the first half and Odom kept leaving him wide open. Odom made up for it with some big baskets down the stretch and did a great job of rebounding and pushing the ball down the court for early offense. Andrew Bynum picked up 3 stupid, STUPID fouls in this game and was a non-factor. I don't know why he jumps at shooters when he has 10 foot plus wingspan. He just has to put his arms straight up and that's going to alter a guys release. He needs better focus out there. Also let Gortat shoot the ball and don't over play him when he has the ball 16 feet away from the basket. Overall our energy level wasn't anything close to the intesity we played with in Game 1. Hopefully we can play with more urgency in Game 3 and crush Orlando's spirit of coming back.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) Yeah, the 3rd one was the stupidest IMO. I could see that one coming a mile away.
Re: NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Magic (Lakers lead 2-0) I'm sure Magic fans feel the same about Pietrus and his fouling issues.
