Well, Phil doesn't always necessarily "not play rookies." If the rookie is a mature and talented player who can help the team, he doesn't hesistate to play them. Anyone remember Luke Walton in the playoffs his rookie year? We used him during 4th quarter stretches numerous times. If the player is mature enough, Phil will play him.
He's going to have to play the rookie if he's good. That's Phil's only chance of winning another championship.
