After last year's disastrous outings in Seattle, I'm expecting for the Lakers to approach this one with relatively more awareness . Rashard Lewis will have a big game, but look for Kobe to actually take Ray Allen seriously this time.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Depth:</div><div class="quote_post">Lol-I dissagree that Allen owns Kobe. Anyways, Lakers will take it, easy.</div>

Ray Allen's two games against Kobe as a Sonic:

    26/13/9

    22/10/10

Sonics have had the wood over the Lakers the past few years, even sweeping them a couple of seasons back. I think GP will go overboard in this one, and they may open up the door for a Sonics win.

Yeah, If you read my post(I forget where it is) I said that I re-thought this and remembered how the Sonics swept the lakers, so I dont think the lakers will take it easy, but I'm pretty sure they"ll take it.

It's not just the numbers...Ray runs circles round Kobe every time they meet.He just can't keep up with Allen. That play on the buzzer in the game @ Seattle last season.Crossed him over.(basically made him fall)...did a spin move and got the lay-up on the buzzer. He is so smooth...Kobe can't guard him.

Oh and GP can't keep up with real quick guards....He looks like a fool when chasing them these days.So If I was Seattle I would play the trio of Daniels,Allen and Murray good enough minutes to get Gary out of his depth.

Yeah, Ray has given Kobe some problems in the past, but are you saying Ray Allen is better than Kobe?! Nowadays no one player can really shut down another player.

Yes, Payton isn't quite the Glove anymore. He is AGING. He is still a good defender and very tricky. They don't call him the Glove for nothing!

Better overall? No....but does Allen have his number and therefore give Kobe a lot of problems? yes.

Payton's nickname of the glove is past it's sell by date this year.He can still score, rebound and pass but his defense has been very average this season.

That's very true, he's not as impressive as he use to be. However he'll make short work of Barry, he is far superior in all aspects. Barry went soft and old. Kobe has been playing quite well in my opinion, he has been handling the pressure quite well. Allen appears to be more of an offensive player whereas Kobe is slightly better on defense, as always in man to man, he'll come up with a couple of steals or some defensive boards from zone defense. My previous prediction stays, an upset, Sonics win. 89 to 87, Rashard Lewis is gonna eat Devean George alive. Very enjoyable indeed.

I don't think he will make light work of Brent Barry. Bones is a very, very smart basketball player, and uses this to his advantage.

I agree that Payton should win the match-up, but not as easily as you think.

I strongly agree with Sir Desmond. Brent is a very smart player, he doesn't always bowl you over with stats, but he makes the smart, hustle plays that don't show up in the box score. He's also very long for a guard, Payton will have to be ready to work if he's going to score very much tonight.

If the Sonics get hot on the perimeter, the Lakers might be in trouble. Ray Allen will probably outscore Kobe. I'm not too sure how this one will play out, Shaq should dominate the paint, but the Sonics backcourt is very explosive. Without Malone, I'm actually leaning a bit towards the Sonics tonight...just a hunch. I hope I'm wrong.

You sure about that? I am watching the game, and I saw him leave but I think it was just a slightly twisted ankle...

Anyway, my boys are up by one at the half, on a buzzer beater by (of all people) Calvin Booth. Brent Barry has 3 treys....

This is kind of fun, I feel like I've been transported back to 1987! Jumpers are falling down like raindrops in Seattle! [IMG]

kobe shouldnt have shook his finger at ray allen. A little premature. Sonics win by 2 on a ray allen layup.

Kobe got a little bit ahead of himself. From now on, he needs to leave the finger wagging to Dikembe. [IMG] Great game though. Jesus played extremely well.

What a game of basketball that was. Kobe Bryant was absolutely clutch, but he is still Ray Allen's....ahem [IMG]

    My Recap.

ESPN should have had this on, too many people will have missed out of one of the best games of basketball in the last few years.

Got that right, that was too great of a game for other people to miss. Allen and Kobe going back and fourth, that's basketball at it's best, it's just too bad the Lakers weren't able to pull out the win. Of course, you know what the excuse is going to be for losing this game, I don't even have to say it.

That was a great game... It was close the whole way through and when Allen hit that three I thought it was over till ma man kobe came back wit one in allens face, but seattle set a pic which forced grant to guard allen, which we all no is a huge miss match, and allen make a great layup. Im mad la lost, but i give it up to seattle cuz they played well even tho they were the underdogs.
