<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Based on what? The Lakers excel in halfcourt execution when the team is healthy. They have more options to exploit match-up problems against San Antonio. Unless the Spurs make a trade to get more athletic, I just don't see them advancing out of Round 1.</div> The Spurs just are the Spurs, they have good ball movement, a solid interior presence in Duncan (which the Lakers can handle in my opinion). Solid 3 point shooting in Barry, Finley, Horry, Ginobli, and Bowen can be decent. They can play good defense against most of the Lakers squad, I can see Odom messing things up though and Bynum having some nice moves. Parker will burn Smush a lot imo. Duncan will have some good games, Ginobli can be on and off.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I could understand wanting to trade Lamar if the Lakers were in jeopardy of missing the playoffs, but we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Even Kobe wasn't exactly dominating games when he came back from his injury. It takes a few games to get acclamated.</div> Like I said before, do not trade Odom because we are still into the playoff hunt and our record is like third best in the East. Like a mentioned before we need to get a perimeter lockdown player. Like a Bowen type of player just to come in and focus on perimeter defense. Secondly, if we are healthy: with half court sets we could definitely beat any team in the NBA even the Suns and Mavs. But before someone refutes my comment such as "How old are you? You just started watching the NBA because you need to step up your knowledge..the Mavs and Suns are better blah blah". Let me say that the Suns and Mavs are so worried about getting the number one seed that by the time the go deep in the playoffs they will be so exhausted of running up and down the court. This is why the Mavs lost the finals last year (exhaustion) and too tired to play half court sets with the Heat. They got pounded. I also have notice a pattern, in the past Nash has performed well until the end of the season, then because of back injuries (exhaustion) he has slowed down affecting his team and causing their elimination.
lamar shouldnt get more time...he has these flashes of showing how much talent hes got and i think if he played up to that talent he would be one of the best players in the NBA but he doesnt and is inconsistent waste of talent and should be traded it would be better for both guys. i wish he went to a bad team where there arent any real stars so he has a chance to play like he has shown to play

He was playing so well that most Laker fans wouldn't even trade him for Kevin Garnett, me included. Now obviously he hasn't been the same after the injury, but maybe he's just rusty? Maybe he's not 100%? I just don't see how a player can all of a sudden fall off so much, especially at his age. I mean, the injury wasn't even that serious. I still have faith in Lamar
Woohoo, Lamar shoots the air ball to seal the win for the Knicks!!! I love him! 7.1 seconds to find Kobe...and he couldn't do it. This guy is absolute trash and I'm absolutely sick of him ruining our chances of winning. Trade his ass before the deadline, he's not going to do anything for us. Smush Parker has a bigger impact on this team than this lazy SOB. I found out who causes global warming...Lamar Odom. Best air ball I've ever seen.
<div class="quote_poster">shapecity Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Based on what? </div>the lakers cannot beat the Spurs over 7 games right now due to the Spurs edge in terms of veteran experience, b-ball IQ and killer instinct/winning attitude. The Lakers do have a big team, but Mitch Kupchak has amassed a roster of some of the most inconsistent and undisciplined players in the league - Kwame, Lamar, Vladimir, Smush, etc...
Once again Odom looses the game for us. Dude! WTF is wrong with him. All game his is disappeared from the game. He does not shoot the ball, stands on the perimeter doesn't do s***t. And once again he tries to be the hero and makes a retarded shot. Sorry but its time to recognize our biggest mistake and move. Odom was a bad trade and he is a waste of talent. Mitch! Trade his ass. Now he is costiong Kobe the chance to become an MVP.
I didn't really get to catch the game last night, but judging from the posts, Odom had another stupid, worthless game. I've been very patient with Lamar so far. I still think that he will be able to return back to the play he had in the beginning of the season, but my patience is really starting to dwindle

Check out this trade scenario that I created for all you Laker fans. Of course the Nets get screwed and Rod Thorn ain't no fool, but they save a ton of money. http://www.justbball.com/forums/showpost.p...588&postcount=5
Dallasdue, that is a great trade scenerio and it seems that you match it well with salaries. Talent level, all teams benefit except for the Nets. But the Nets want to trade to save money and start a rebuilding stage than they should do it. I think if given enough minutes Sasha could be a great point guard, maybe a 12 pts, 6 assist, 5 rbds guy.
Awesome trade Dallasdude, maybe if Chicago, LA, or Memphis included some 1st round picks it wouldn't be too, far fetched.
<div class="quote_poster">AMS_ice Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Hmmm... someone's pants are on fire </div> It's not crazy, you have to understand the salary cap implications if the Lakers acquired KG. The Lakers owner, Dr. Buss, is not going to pay the luxury tax. KG would cost $9M more than Odom, which means the Lakers would likely have to give up Kwame Brown in the deal, and wouldn't have any capspace to re-sign Luke Walton without going over the luxury tax threshold. They would have to find a taker for Radmonivic inorder to re-sign Luke. So now you're talking about trading 3 starters for 1.
You're a genius, Dallasdude. If this trade goes through, it would be sensational for LA. This trade has to go through !

Lamar and Gasol make the same amount of money, yet check Gasol's PER. Gasol shows up every game, Lamar shows up every 3rd game.

Luxury tax with a chance for an NBA championship or no luxury tax without a shot for an NBA ring? What do I do, What do I do? Anyway... I'm rooting for a Kobe/Kidd combo after the all-star break!
