that would make three of our starters white dudes. i dont know. jk. but yeah i dont ever beleive that the bulls would do this, i mean, odom sucks balls, and they know that. why would they want him? plus why would they want mihm? i think if they really wanted to get rid of hinrich they would do a deal for odom, but they would never include nocioni, out of the question. unless they really want expiring contracts then no way thats gonna happen. I ve sort of thought this over, and im wondering, will a change of this magnitude effect our team chemistry in a way that we could not recover? i mean, waiting for this team to wake up is just wishful thinking, but it isnt out of the question. I still firmly beleive that odom is the weakest link on this squad and we dont need him, but getting rid of him could do some damage as well. i don know, he seems close to our other players personaly, and i think he still holds a certain value within this team. on the other hand, we arent going to win a championship with this line-up, unless they really come out of their shells and play like they should be playing, we arent getting anywhere near that title. There has to be a better way than just trading to ignite this team and make them want it more.
They really do want expiring contracts! The thing about Odom is he partially fills the Bulls gaping void, and the rest of the season would be good to determine if they want to re-sign him. I assume he won't get another $14.5M/season type deal, maybe $10M. If the Bulls do resign him at that amount, they save $14.5M - $10M = $4.5M in cap space that they can use to up their offer to Ben Gordon and likely have enough to make Drew Gooden a nice offer, too. Add in the $2.7M expiring deal for Mihm and there's even more to use to resign those two. If they don't resign Odom, they'd have $18M, which would make the Bulls greedy owner quite happy. One thing you may not appreciate is that the Bulls would trot Mihm out there as much as he can handle right now. Their frontcourt situation is that bad.
I'm all for trading him for Gerald Wallace. I've been saying it for a couple weeks now, but I think Wallace really fills a pretty big need for us. He gives us a defensive minded athletic freak that can fill the biggest gap in our starting lineup - the SF spot. His contract isn't too bad, and he'd certainly be an upgrade of Odom.
