Crash wouldn't be the correct verb. Batum was about to shoot a free throw and Amare walked into him with his elbow while "adjusting his glasses".
Hmmm...I feel we've been here before...what was that guy's name....? Bill something. Whatever happened to him?
I hear that the Blazers medical staff have come up with a protective brace sporting metal spikes to discourage that practice.
I don't think you can trust them BGD...they' ve tapped your phone and put cameras all around your home. It's just a matter of time before they go all Tania Harding on you
Sounds like the last 48 hours have been good to LMA. Props to him for trying it out himself and really leading by example.. I was also wondering about the "risk not worth the reward" he said the other night. And sounds like that Boston loss definitely had some influence. http://www.nba.com/blazers/aldridgepre24jan15
I had forgotten that one. I Remember another gratuitous hit during live action. May have also been Amare. Thanks for finding it.
Anyone notice he was much less aggressive on the offensive boards and on defense? Understandable since it was his first game back. It will be interesting to see if it continues. Regardless, once we get Rolo back it shouldn't be a liability problem.
I hope the injury makes LA go straight up, instead of always swiping at the ball. That's how he injured himself. He might need lessons from Joel though.
This. I know his swipe works sometimes but it still annoys me when he doesn't try to block the shot instead because he's good at it when he tries.
His swipe was a move he was allowed to do because of his reputation; losing that is like losing the one bit of "we get bad calls going our way" we ever had.
Actually maybe you could say this early in the game but the entire team wasn't very aggressive coming out tonight. As the game wore on I saw Aldridge working harder and harder to get position on the boards vs two very skilled bigs. There are maybe a handful of teams that have two starting bigs as skilled as Nene/Gortat are.
I tore a ligament in my dominant thumb, dislocating it. I could function doing some things around the house. Fine motor skills is what was really affected. Even though I had surgery in August, I still can't shoot a basketball without pain. On another note, does he have insentives in his contract if he makes the all-star team? I'm wondering if that affectedhis decision. Not trying to stir the pot...
Post Game Interview with LA last night Jabari Young: "Did the last two games have an impact on your decision, in seeing the way the team played in the losses?" LA: "Uh, the last one definitely you know, that wasn't a good loss. And I feel like we didn't look good out there . . . " Crazy to think that if Evan Turner doesn't hit that 3 how things would have played out. LA might have gone ahead with the surgery thinking the team will be ok grinding out enough "ugly" wins to stay afloat while he was out. But it was scary how hard we played and still couldn't beat a weak Eastern time like the C's at home. Intensity was there, but with no playmakers other than Dame it was a struggle. In the back of everyone's mind was a stretch like OKC had to start the season w/o KD and WB. Who knows how many wins we would have had? But a stretch like 3-12 might have dropped us to the 9th spot in the West by the time he makes it back. After the Boston loss, it felt like the season could be slipping away. Imagine missing the playoffs after a 30-8 start. I get why he came back. I also understand why some fear we're mortgaging the future (post season success) midway through the season. We're going to need a healthy LA to win playoff games for sure. But if he had the surgery, we might not even get there. And so it goes . . . another chapter for the book on how schizophrenic it is to be a Blazer fan that somebody has to write someday. Highs are high, lows are tragically & heartbreakingly low, and sometimes unexpectedly proceeded by another high.
Good post. When I heard he was coming back, at first it was shock, and then I was like "I really don't know if I like this." For the same reasons you mentioned, long term vs. short term. It's an interesting debate. I'd much rather have LMA for March and April then now, since we have given us a (little) bit of a cushion. But, I understand wanting to come back early. I give LMA a toooon of credit for his gumption and wanting to play. If it's true that it can't get hurt any further, or much more... I understand it. It's nerve wracking, but I understand it.
