Thank you to all of you who were there in person and to those who couldn't make it but were there in spirit, your love and warm thoughts were felt by all. A special thanks also to the Portland Trail Blazers, they were amazing during all of this. It was great to be able to share with those of you who attended today the good wishes and sentiments the players recorded for Lanny and the Blazers loaded onto a digital picture frame along with pictures of Lanny at different Blazer and forum events over the years along with a treasure trove of Blazer photos, most of which I've never seen before, that spanned from the beginning of the team until just recently. The digital picture frame was a gift from the Blazers to Lanny when his prognosis was first known a few months ago. For today the Blazers sent flowers for the funeral and Blazer President Dewayne Hankins emailed condolences to share with Tammy, Lanny's wife. Lanny and Tammy's families always knew the Blazers held a special place in Lanny's heart, it was nice for them to see that the Blazers and we fans all hold a special place in our hearts for Lanny.
Also Tammy, Lanny's wife, has read this thread and all of your posts have meant so much to her and her family. And again, to all of you who showed up today, your presence and honoring of Lanny were so appreciated. Thank you all so much.
Proud of S2 and the Blazers for being there for Lanny and Tammy today. Thanks to the Blazers front office Sly, Homer, Travis and everyone who put their lives on pause to pay respects to a wonderful man I had the pleasure to meet once.
Rest in peace sweet Lanny. May you read through this every once in a while in the heavens, as a friendly reminder of your impact on the souls pacing the soil beneath your clouds.
Oh shit, I just discovered this...what sad news. Though I don't post here that often, when I did, Lanny was always nice to me as well as other posters here and treated everyone with respect...this forum has lost a bright light and will not be the same without him and I hope I can speak for everyone by saying, RIP my friend.
I wish I could've attended Lanny's funeral. He's always had a special place in my heart and we've shared many laughs together. I'm just now reading through all the comments and pics. Very touching remarks. I'm sure Lanny has looked down on and appreciated every last one of them. You're a treasure, Lanny, and have meant so much to so many. You will be missed, friend, R.I.P., big guy. Oh, and in that pic, I see you were wearing that shirt I sent you. That makes me happy!!
