Nolan was supposedly a Nate pick. Coach K talked the world of him, if I remember correctly from the draft fodder I was reading at the time.
I like Larry Miller less than Nate. A lot less. At least Nate deserves a certain measure of respect, despite our long-standing differences. God we need new management.
Did you even read the article? The Blazer Organization is closer than they've ever been since 1995 to operating in the Black. The Rose Garden has sold out nearly 200 games in a row, AND the Blazers have the opportunity to let their contracts expire to the tune of only $24 Million tied up in Payroll next season (Not Including Nic). Sounds Pretty Fine to me. Blazer fans aren't going anywhere, and we have a solid core to build around.
Uh-oh. The business side is the measure of success, not the basketball side. We are the Milwaukee Bucks. Zzzzzzz..... Thanks, Paul. It was pretty good while it lasted.
We lost Brandon Roy, We Lost Greg Oden. They drafted a PG, looking for the Answer. They traded for Felton/Crawford looking for an answer, they swooped up Wallace looking for an answer. Maybe its been a failure, Maybe not. But don't act as if they've done nothing to try and get better after all this organization has been through. People are acting like the Organization is a speed boat that can turn on a dime, "Oh turn there, go there, do this, do that." When in fact its a giant ship that takes time to maneuver. Building a competitive team is a slow process, Especially for a small market team. Take a step back and have some patience. Getting so tired of hearing "Blazer Fans deserve better," in perfect world maybe, but this aint it.
If we use the metaphor of a speedboat for the Blazers future as discussed on this board, then you have to include 20 or so drunken captains with inflated notions of their nautical abilities all battling for the wheel while have differing ideas of what the best course is to get to the championship port.
Who handed you the torch as the new apologist of the board? I'm not asking much. Hire a GM, fire the coach and replace him with a coach with new ideas.
We're over .500. That means that management has done better than more than half the teams. Nolan Smith is doing just fine for a rookie point guard chosen late in the first round. What we need is a coach who uses all facets of the game instead of being a one-trick pony.
Solid core? We have two players in Batum and Aldridge with one decent prospect with EWILL. In short, we aren't close. Having Larry Miller making important basketball decisions will only prolong this mediocrity.
Who me? not at all. Just a playful way of saying a lot of people don't want to admit or refuse to admit that this team is pretty mediocre right now.
You've been popping in every thread I've read today with trollish one-liners. If you need a hug, just ask.
Speaking of Gilligan, Blazinaway mentioned him twice last night. http://sportstwo.com/threads/208256...of-the-Union?p=2748327&viewfull=1#post2748327 http://sportstwo.com/threads/208305...-About-Camby?p=2748490&viewfull=1#post2748490
