Yep. Last night sealed the deal on me not wanting DMC. NOt because of his antics. If we ar wining I think most of us could handle that, but the key word is winning.

TRhe way he let CJ vblow by him several times told me he will not be a help on the defensive end. he may pick up some boards, but thats only if the guys he lets getto the rim miss. He is not a shot blocker and doesnt seem to know how to play team D at all. NOt what we need.

Sorry, turnign the page on him. We need a two way guard and a rim protector.

    Nerlens Noel and Paul George.

Trade as many players as it taskes except Dame/Harkless/Plumlee. resign Plumlee and have him come off the bench behind Noel.

something has to change though. Thats all I know.

Doesn't that depend on who we trade to get him? If you are talking CJ and future 1st round picks....then after it goes bad and we need to tank......we are kind of screwed for years.

I am all for taking a risk on the Boogie man, but if the goal is to beat the Warriors and the Cav's......we will need more than just Cousins and Dame left on the roster. I know you are one of those who is willing to be patient and tank for awhile in order to get lucky in the lottery in order to get better. I on the other hand would rather be be patient with a mediocre team and hope to get lucky with a mid first round pick. (or 2nd round pick or a FA like Whiteside when he was signed by Miami the first time. ) Either way we need the same amount of luck.

Keep in mind that defensively we have struggled just as much against SF's and stretch 4's (and stretch 5') than we have against guards. Players like Gasol, Durant, Griffin, George, Love, Davis, Gallanari.......all these guys have been lighting it up from deep and guess who is often covering those guys? The one guy most people want to keep. Harkless.

Everyone is on Dame and CJ ( and our rim protectors) when the bigger issue are the forwards and centers who are wide open from mid range and beyond.

Sheed was the #1 reason why that series with the Lakers went 7 games. We had no answer for Shaq and Kobe, but they had no answer for Rasheed.

I know I'm in the minority, but I've always held the belief that if you're not competing for titles, then it doesn't matter to me if you are watching a .500 team or a .200 team; either record leaves you equally "screwed," on the outside looking in.

As for giving it time and being patient with a mediocre team, this roster is kind of a dumpster fire in my opinion. It's the worst Blazers team I've ever watched on defense and that's saying something, considering how bad they were after they blew up the "Jailblazers" team. It's an oddly fitting team filled with pieces who don't quite fit and is regressing all over the place. Making matters worse our two best players, CJ and Lillard are basically an unsalvageable disaster on defense that also overlaps too much on offense to maximize each other's talents. I love both guys' demeanor and you couldn't ask for better ambassadors for the team, but this a bad pairing and probably needs to be broken up.

To complicate matters, age is going to start being a factor: Damian is going to be 27 next year and how many more prime years is he going to have? So even assuming Neil lucked out and drafted a great player at 15th-17th, how long until he can contribute to a title run? Two years? Three years? The window may close before it even opens.

I saw Dwight Jaynes on highway 217 today. I recognized him just by seeing the back of his head, then looked back as I was passing him to confirm it was him. He was picking his nose. (not that there's any shame in that)

Not really. Yes, Sheed had a great series against the Lakers, but he did most of his damage in games we lost. His two highest scoring games in that series were 34 points in Game 4 and 30 points in Game 7.

Games 5 and 6 were the critical wins that allowed us to stretch the series to 7 games.

In game 5, Sheed had 22 points on 7-21 shooting. Scottie Pippen had a turn-back-the-clock game of 22 points on 8-12 shooting.

In game 6, Sheed was 3rd on the team in scoring at 18 points. Smitty led the team with 26 and Bonzi chipped in 20 off the bench.

Besides, we lost that series, so Sheed didn't "lead" us anywhere. He was an important part of those teams, but I can't think of a single example of Sheed ever leading us to a series win. I'm sure there had to be something, maybe a first round win over a lower seed, but he never "led" us to the WCF, as the OP claimed, or beyond.

And, he didn't "lead" DET to a championship. In fact, it was his boneheaded play of leaving Robert Horry wide open for the game winning 3 the following season that cost DET a chance at a repeat. And then how many times did he guarantee they'd win a series and fail to deliver?

Great role player, yes, without a doubt. Great leader, not even close.

I couldn't agree more with this. If I could hit likes a thousand times I would! Lots of people just like to play it safe and that's just not how things get done.

I know you have and that is fine. But to me the main difference between a .500 team and a .200 is that you are closer to .700 by being .500 tham you are by being .200 if your best players are still young, and right now no one is in their prime since most are 26 and under. I am not saying we should "bake the cake" because we need to make a trade. I am just saying be smart about it and giving up "anything but Dame" in order to get Boogie like some suggest does not get us closer to the goal.

The reason is Harekless to me shows a very high ceiling. He has taken a big leap this year from last and I think he has taken another leap fom the beginning of this season to now. He seems to catch on quick and when he is our sole switchable defender with Aminu out, yes MVP caliber players will work him. But look at the ages of every player you listed compared to Hark.

Hark may not be a supreme defender, but as of now, he is the least of my worries on the team when it comes to F/C.
