If I had no risk of getting $20 million, and then someone came along and did that... I would think that would be bad business and not the clients interests at heart....

But if that free advertising doesn't lead to making up that $20 million, it in turn cost you probably around $19 million for that free advertising.

Setting he and his family up for a Kardashianesque reality show. I believe they signed a 100 million contract a couple years ago.

Everyone hates them, but they keep getting paid because Kris Jenner is good at marketing their brand.

This all started because Kim fucked a guy on camera. Now they all make 15 million plus a year on a reality show, with spin offs, business spin offs, etc.

    He's got a good angle

You realize a lot of people love the Kardashians right? That is why they are popular, they aren't popular because of the people who dislike them. Not that many people love Lavar or Lonzo, that's why they only sold 300 shoes.

I guess you missed the part where Ben Simmons got a $20 million guaranteed deal with Nike. You can't cancel that. So yeah, there is a risk, a big one.

Nice. Too much cardio for my taste, but you'll probably live longer, so there is that.

It's nice here today as well. Went to church, swam, saw Guardians 2

    Solid full family day

Negative publicity can hurt the sales of large well known companies. However, negative publicity can increase sales when a brand is relatively unknown, simply because it stimulates product awareness.

In markets where there are lots of competing brands and products, trying to get people to know about a product can generate more sales than tying to get the public to think the product is a good one. Many good products do not succeed due to poor marketing, while mediocre products succeed using clever marketing tactics.

The question here becomes. Will the BigBallerBrand generate more revenues and income as a stand alone brand? Or would the Ball family make more money by signing an exclusive contract with a company such as Nike?

LaVar is taking a gamble by going at it alone. His potential reward is larger, with some risk of making less in the long run.

The problem is. LaVar’s tactics have painted a huge target on his sons. It will take years to see how this all plays out. His sons better produce on the court. Or the market for the BigBallerBrand will only be a small niche of collectors, and for people that have more money than brains.

“IF” Lonzo has a Damian Lillard type start to his career. ROY and then makes the all star team in his second season. Just maybe LaVar’s plan is to market the next generation of shoes, which are family priced to compete with Nike & Adidas?

With the collectors’ line he is now introducing, he has generated national brand awareness. And then if Lonzo somehow becomes a fan favorite. The BigBallerBrand is in position to give the big guns serious competition. And make the Ball family a lot of money.

Not saying I want this to happen, only that it is a possibility.

I think I know what you believe but I'm not entirely sure so let me double check.

I know you said it is genius to sell the shoes for $500 instead of $100. Why?

If he sells 300 shoes at $500 he would have to sell 1500 shoes at $100 to make the same amount of money. Do you not think the brand is capable of being popular enough to sell 1500 shoes (1500 is not a big number all things considered)? If so then how is it smart to shoot down any chance of his son signing a multi-million dollar shoe contract with one of the big companies?

If they sell 1500 pairs of the ZO2's it would still only be $750,000 before manufacturing costs. Lavar will have to sell 16,000 shoes to reach the amount that John Wall fetched Adidas in 2015, or 680,000 to reach the amount that Lebron earned Nike in that same year.

Claiming that they are better off selling them to a smaller audience for 5x the price of the average NBA star sneakers, and then claiming that it was smart to ostracize the big shoe companies is counteractive. Lavar would have to sell 5000 pairs of the ZO2's per year at their current price in order to break even with John Walls rookie shoe contract worth $2.5 million per year for 5 years.
