I see @SlyPokerDog liked your cliché analogy instead of seeing the truth. Let me see if I can help you see how much truth there is in only the bad guys having guns and how that might not work as well as everyone would like. MarAzul will be coming to Portland sometime mid summer. Probably park right down town for a while and then up the River, on to West Linn. @barfo has already indicated the desire to board the MarAzul for non friendly purposes, perhaps there are others that would like to join in. Perhaps @Lanny even has a freind that would like to lend a hand. But as it stands right now, I seriously doubt, you or Sly or anyone else would take on the job of giving Barfo a hand in the game. On first thought, none of you have any idea whether you would run into great difficulty in the endever? But then you consider the possiblity of that ancient Mariner being armed! Just the possibility is enough to take the fun out of the game, squeches even the even the thought. Where as, if only the bad guys have arms, what harm could come of just having a little fun? Ha! See what perfect gentelmen it makes of everyone! Just the threat is enough to modify behavior and that is a fact. Why some might even stop by such as @UncleCliffy'sDaddy, and come aboard for a brew, after asking, Permissions to come aboard of course. Hell proper order in the world makes it a pleasant place for all.

I agree that law abiding citizens will be affected the most . . . at first. It's gonna take some time for shrinkage to take effect and the most dangerous weapons to slowly disappear. I suspect that after some time it will gradually get better and better.
