    My guess is we thought Hood was gone. When Hood re-signed with us, the plans had to be adjusted.
    Stuff like that is important, especially when you're on the edge of contending. If you're a 41-41 franchise, it doesn't help much. However, knowing you'll do right by players if it doesn't work out can oftentimes be the deciding factor between two contenders. Who helps players on their way out and who burns bridges?
