<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chuck:</div><div class="quote_post">Thanks! I couldn't find the Magic stats. By the way, Scottie Pippen said he would rather have LeBron (in his 3rd year) than Jordan (in his 3rd year), as a teammate. I see where he is coming from now, although I don't necessarily agree Also-- people who get annoyed with player comparisons usually can't even come up with a coherent argument about anything. "THARE DIFRENT PALYERZ!1111" No, ya think?</div> It doesn't matter if it's annoying or not. It's happening and it's something that is just going to have to be accepted. Why do you think before game 7 they showed footage of alternating shots between LeBron and Jordan? What is getting annoying is the people that are holding on to this false hope that Jordan's numbers will never be broken. The people that say that they are 2 different types of players and shouldn't be compared at all. It doens't matter if they are different players. The main thing that fans are interested in is total career rings, MVP's, ect. I don't understand what every one is so concerned about. It's not like the value of their Air Jordan collection will decrease in value. I look at the numbers of both players in their third year and it's a no brainer that LeBron is playing better than Jordan was. The only adv that LeBron has is the fact that he can see what Jordan did and use it to his benifit. Jordan, being the first to surpass expectations had no such advantage.

Because of that, everyone is excited about much more he will elevate his game as he gets older. Last summer he worked on the 3 and look how much his perimiter game increased. If he works on his D this summer, there's no telling what may result!
Funny someone brings this topic up, because last night I was reading an old MJ magazine, where it analyzes every year of his career......while MJ was the better scorer, I have to give the nod to Bron....Bron has figured out (what took jordan at least another 3 or 4 years to figure out) to trust his teammates......and like durvasa said, you can compare the two....while Lebron has similarities to Magic, he also has similarities to MJ also (particulary slashing to the basket).....if he stays healthy, I see no reason why he can't become the greatest player to ever pick up a basketball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting THE DREAM:</div><div class="quote_post">Bron has figured out (what took jordan at least another 3 or 4 years to figure out) to trust his teammates.</div> Jordan didn't have a GM who was trying to keep him happy. My point is that Lebron to a certain extent gets to pick his teammates. He wanted Z to stay, the GM went out of his way to make sure that happened. Did Jordan get to pick his teammates? Not really. He was very fotunate to have Scottie to have a guy like Scottie Pippen, but he didn't control who was on his team the same way that Lebron did. No player in that era even had as much say in the matter as players do today.

I think it was 5 or 6 seasons before most people even considered him the best player in the league. And even then, there was lively debate between MJ and Magic. So comparing LeBron's season to where Jordan was in his third year isn't that crazy. Different types of players, sure, but the overall level of play is definitely comparable. The reason for making the comparison is that LeBron is playing comparably at such a young age, so there's some reason to think he could eventually equal or surpass Jordan's level of play at his prime.
