Even though I'm a Laker fan, I'm going with LeBron because he has the potential to be the greatest player of all-time. He's only 21 and he can already score 40+ points. He's improving his jumpshot and defense. He can get his teammates involved as well as Kobe right now if not better.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Melo_061 @ May 19 2006, 06:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Is this even a question? Lebron is the best player in the league, better than kobe and Duncan. Kobe bryant is a choke job who airballed a chance to win the series in game 6. He disappeared in game 7, only taking 3 shots in the 2nd half of game 7. That's not something lebron would do. Lebron is the better scorer, defender, passer and is more clutch. edit: This comparision is ridiculous at the moment because people have short memories and are obviously going to say lebron. You can make a tmac vs wade comparision now and people will pick wade.</div> - LeBron is the better scorer? I don't think so. - LeBron is the better defender? LMAO do you watch basketball? - Yes, he is the better passer/playmaker - More Clutch? Nah not really. What LeBron has done over the past 2 months isn't even close to what Kobe has done in his career when you are talking about clutch performances. LeBron is better than Kobe and Duncan already? No. He hasn't accomplished anything team-wise yet. Yes, he's playing unbefreakinglievable in the playoffs this year, in his 1st playoff apperance, but Duncan/Kobe each have 3 rings while LeBron has nothing more than statistical records and 2 All-Star appearances. I love LeBron do death, but saying he is better than Duncan/Kobe is rediculous. In time, maybe. At the rate he's going it's a VERY large possiblity. But as of right now, get that stuff outta here. Saying LeBron is a better defender than Kobe is just absolutlely rediculous man. Wow. And the scoring thing, Kobe can score on anybody he wants to all times. LeBron can too for the most part, but Kobe is the better player right now.
I think Lebron is the better scorer than Kobe. kobe cant get inside the way Lebron can. Lebron passes up a lot of shots and passes the ball. Kobe averages 35 ppg on 45% shoting. Lebron averages 31 ppg on 49% shooting. If Lebrons shot as much as Kobe, hed be scoring more than him. But thats not the way Lebron plays. He likes to get his teammates involved just as much as he likes to score himself. Id definatley say he is the better scorer.
How bout you guys get off Lebrons d***. Why is it that now you guys start to think Lebron's the greatest player now? Just because he won 3 games? May I remind you of his stats for the series: he's shooting 44%, 8 rebounds a game, 7 assists a game, and most importantly 5 turnovers a game, and 25 points per game. If those are best player right now numbers then your crazy because he plays virtually the entire game. He always has the ball in his hands so he's bound to get assists. He has airballed at least 2 shots a game in the series. He also whines a lot about fouls. He only gets charged with 2-3 a game and plays 48 minutes.
LeBron is amazing. Unlike Kobe, James lets the game come to him,he can dish the ball to his open teammates.Kobe always forces the action. Call me crazy, but LeBron is starting to be Michael Jordan of the present time.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (valo35 @ Apr 23 2006, 04:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>At this point in their careers i think that Lebron is Kobe's equal. Kobe is a slightly better scorer right now, just because his jumpshot is a little better than James. Kobe is better on defense, because when Kobe wants to play defense, he is as good as they come. I have said it in another thread, Kobe's defense is so fundamental, just the way people are taught to play. James however is a far superior passer. Not only because he passes more, but because his passes are so much more quick and crisp. He is one of the only people i see that can stand at the top of the key, and zip passes down to the low block without getting picked off. Lebrons knowledge of when to pass and what type of pass is better also. He knows when to bounce pass, and when to chest pass because of his court awareness. James is the better rebounder, because of his size, and bulk over Kobe, as well as how quick he is. James is fast enough to run down the long rebounds, and has the size and strength to bang a little down low to. As far as driving to the rim, i believe James is the best in the league right now at getting to the rim and finishing, better than both Wade and Kobe.</div>I wrote this on the 23rd of april in the other thread, and today the 19th of May i still think it to be so.
before the playoffs started i would of said kobe because lebron was never in the playoffs(before this year) and kobe has won 3 rings even though he had the help of shaq. But since the playoffs started i would defiently say lebron, he has been a beast so far and with one more win he would of led the cavs to the conf finals, who would of thought the cavs would be in this situation about 6 months ago well hell with 6 months ago what about 3 weeks ago

I'm not a Kobe or LeBron fan, but Kobe is easily better.I just hate how LeBron is always compared to MJ. The superstyle style started with MJ, and it'll end with him.LeBron is great for 21, and he's beating Jordan so far, but if LeBron keeps on being mentioned at the same level as MJ then he really won't have revolutionzed the league, unlike some current players such as Steve Nash or Dirk.Back to the matchup...Kobe is a better scorer, perimeter shooter, free throw shooter, defender (1st All-League Defender this season if I'm not mistaken), etc.

LBJ is better IMO because of all his TDs. I haven't seen Kobe ever get a TD in his entire career and I'd be surprised if he even has a single one. The most amazing fact about LB is that he's become a huge player at just 21 years of age!! That is crazy! I don't think there will be any other player that develops so quickly ever again.Bottomline - LBJ is better by a landslide. The only problem that LBJ has with KB is when the two matchup. The CAVS should be 2-0 vs. the Lakers every season

Kobe posted those scoring numbers because he got a ton of shots. Lebron is right behind him at ppg and has a pretty big lead on kobe in terms of fg%.
Everybody gives Lebron a break for not putting up his usual numbers because he's playing against Detroit, when Kobe played Detroit this season he averaged 39.5 and 5.5, sure that was only two games, but those two games prove that you can't just write off a perimeter scorer against a team like Detroit.
LeBron a better scorer then Kobe?Thats taking it over the limit.Remember that Kobe scored 81 points playing 3 quarters, yeah it was versus the Raptors but how many people can score over 60 against anyone?Kobe can put up 40 every night and was the leading scorer in the regular season,to say LeBron is a better scorer is not right.LeBron has yet to win anything and if you remember right this is his first year in the playoffs,so until he can prove to us that he can at least make the finals Kobe will have the slight edge over LeBron.
I think that I would choose LeBron over Kobe, even though Kobe's my favorite player in the league right now. LeBron's a lot younger and has many more years to play. In addition to that, he's more of an all around player than Kobe. Look at his stats, 31/7/7. LeBron would be amazing in the future.
LeBron James Lebron unlike Kobe is a team player, Kobe does not rely on anyone but himself (unless there is the occasional Lmar Odom score or possibely Kwame Brown). Kobe has scored 81 in a game, sure but as I said, his team got alot of assists not scores. Now LeBron James is not selfish, that is shown in his triple-double against my team (Wizards) in the first game of the playoffs. LeBron has also accomplished just as many things as Kobe has just with less time to accomplish them. Let's take a look shall we. Lebron had a 31 PPG 7 RPG and 6.6 APG. Here are his accomplishments: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/lebron_james...x.html?nav=page At such a young age too, now this is Kobe 35.4 PPG 5.3 RPG 4.5 APG, and his accopmlishments: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/...x.html?nav=page As LeBron ages, Kobe will not be nearly as good.
Kobe is definitely better right now. I dont see how you can question that. But I can see how you would rather want LeBron on your team because he is more willing to pass. And sham, melo was kidding. how did you think that LeBron was better in the clutch???

You have it all mixed up. I dont care about individual game scoring accomplishments. Look at the averages. Kobe averages about 4 ppg more than Lebron. If yout hink about it, it's not that much when Lebron has a very high fg% and likes to pass the ball just as much as he likes to score. If you were watching Game 6 you could see it. Lebron basically attacked the rim and got to the line effortlessly. He is great at scoring points. WHEN he develops that consistent shot he will average 37 like Jordan did, trust me.
