You have to trade 2 of Crabbe, Meyers TankHard, and Turner, and I don't think Neil will trade an FA he just signed. So, if you keep Crabbe, you probably have to ditch Nurk - an unsavory prospect.
Nurk is actually untouchable unless his leg falls off. The luxury tax limit should be avoided but depending on your point of view, starting it up when you resign Nurk isn't the end of the world, if you think you're going to be worldbeaters. At that point, though, you probably trade your bench for vets.
Whoa, you totally lost me on how you came to this conclusion. Nurkic isn't going anywhere - CJ would be traded before Nurk, and I don't think CJ is getting traded anytime soon.
The way I see it there are 2 options for Meyers: 1. Complete brain transplant. 2. Something like this, and let Sly work the controls.
We're not going to be in the luxury tax when Nurk gets paid, we're in NOW - more than $20 mil over would be my guess based on http://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/POR.html This coming year we're at $140 mil - CJs extension has kicked in. Subtract 6.7 of Ezeli's 7.7, and we're still at almost $134 mil. If the luxury tax is about $115 next year, then we're about $19 mil over. We need to dump salary or we're over this coming year, and if we're in the luxury tax before Nurk signs, then we'll be in repeater tax territory. So, my point is... How do you dump $20 mil without trading Crabbe for a cheaper player? It's rhetorical, you can't.
If we can trade Crabbe to Brooklyn and fleece them for picks and cheaper player(s), then great. Turner has been a boondoggle, but we're probably stuck with him.
I think we would hit the jackpot if we could trade him to either team in exchange for only a bag of pork rinds!
You should have donated it to charity earlier when you had the chance. Although, you might find someone who will use the jersey as a set of Blazer rags.
