The announcers for the Pels are Joel Meyers David Wesley Sean Kelley Joel Meyers is a national guy for espn maybe he's heard something idk but they were talking like it was common knowledge around the league I wouldnt be surprised if NO kept the numbers quiet locally Agents and GM's talk and gossip like anyone else
It's hard to imagine a poor kid like Meyers turning that contract down when he has yet to live up to anything close to that.
EHhhh I dont I can understand the move, even I wanted to resign him this year and I hated Meyers until the end of last year then we saw the Memphis series and he was our best frontcourt player in that series BY FAR he was killin it. I was real high on him this offseason I think everyone was after the performances he was putting up. But this currently looks more like the meyers we watched over the last 3 years....lost at all times with no way out.... He needs to sit I wanna see some Cliff Alexander minutes he needs to give up 5-10mins a game to that guy he can play some d at least maybe get a couple put backs
Sorry boss, no way its true. Olshey is pretty tight lipped. Meyers is betting on himself he can get to that level.
Olshey is the same guy that made Spencer Hawes his number one target. I believe it. Dodged the bullet twice now. I like you Neil but please stay away from "stretch" 5s that can't rebound or play defense.
At least with Leonard it's mental so there's still the possibility he turns it around. Hawes is just a scrub
$15m/per for MyLo would've been an absolute anchor. Neil makes me nervous. Especially with all this unused cap space.
Oh ESPN you say? That gives him all the credibility in the world! I wonder if he heard it from Broussards multiple sources.
FTFY You seriously believe Meyers turned down $15 million a year? What so he can make 17? Doesn't pass the smell test whatsoever.
If it's true I'd consider trading him. If he plans on testing the FA market rather than re-signing for this amount it might mean he wants out. I'd welcome the Leonard for Olynyk trade suggested in another thread if this is true.
I watched the Pelican broadcast and the play-by-play guy said it. His colorman was surprised; like everyone else, it was the first time he'd heard it. But all that's ever been reported was the word "substantial," just as you say. So like everyone else, I'm skeptical. In fact, I was skeptical that Olshey really wanted back the players lost this summer, from Aldridge on down. I think Olshey wanted to rebuild the team from scratch from the moment he became GM. I think any offer to Leonard was faintly communicated just to go by the book and make a pro-forma offer, which is why Leonard and so many other players didn't accept Olshey's half-hearted "offers."
