It makes me truly giddy to watch the Lakers struggle this season. After a Blazers win, the next most satisfying thing for me is a Lakers loss, especially when Kobe and Howard are both playing. Watching them interact during a loss is so damn fun.

I actually know a lot of LA fans and Portland is in their top 4-5 most hated teams on a regular basis. When a player of Kobe's stature continually talks about, and feels haunted by, his struggles against Portland (especially in Portland), that says something.

I smiled when I wrote it. The way Kobe has brought it up several times, you know it's something that bothers a true competitor of his nature.

The Lakers are at the top of the Blazer fans' list of hated rivals, though. That was kind of my point. Not that it isn't a rivalry, but that it means more to Portland fans simply because of the amount of hatred we have toward them.

If you were actually a Blazers fan and not some rube with a VPN connection, you'd know that 1991 and 2000 mean we can never let our hatred die. Older fans know the 1980's and 1970's dates too.

Oh yeah - agreed it means more to us than it does to them. But there is a rivalry there. It's just more highly-fueled when we're competetive playoff teams (i.e. the better we are in relation to them fuels it).

You might have some what of a point although I'm excited to build a rivalry with the Seattle fans again. God is right when he said that the Blazers\Lakers rivalry was more of a one way hate and inside the Lakers fan base the Blazers are just another team. I think the Lakers hatred comes more from the Hollywood stars, big lights and big city atmosphere that they have.

um....not even close to the reason there. If that was true, why don't people hate the Clippers?

Their phony fans, yes...they suck shit. But thats not the reason why there is such hatred. It certainly helps, but not the reason.

For me, the essence of L*ker hatred is seeing the imordinate amount of
#8-wearing, high-fivin' Kome butt-boys that putrify OUR HOUSE when they come to town.

Fuck them and fuck the L*kers.

    (was that too subtle?)

the only thing worse than a Timberwolves fans masquerading on the forum as Blazer fans, is Laker fans who come into the RG wearing their bling, thinking they're big shits now because they're wearing a "old school" Kobe uniform (which for them is just when he wore #8, and not an actual old school Lakers uniform. either the style of the 80's, or their original uniforms).

Whats worse than BOTH of those groups is Blazer fans who act like they're Laker fans when the Lakers are in town, but Blazer fans the rest of the year.

    You can't be both. sorry.

In that case, change "your whole life" to "for the entire duration of your Blazermania"

If they're anything like Celtics fans in Portland, yeah, fuck them. In 2010 I went to the Boston game instead of selling my tickets. We were surrounded by red shirts and jerseys, and Blazers caps... until tipoff when they took them off revealing Celtics gear underneath. They jeered and heckled the few Blazers fans in the stands for 3 hours, then put on their Blazers gear and walked out without getting properly beat down like they deserved.

It is now. Read Lakersground. We have what they want: The 8th seed in the playoffs.*

*Houston actually just took it from us but we take it back with a win tonight.
