Here is a list of their demands. Apologize for being absent during the Saturday morning attack and for failing, in the students' eyes, to speak out about the incident promptly enough after it happened. Commit to fulfilling the students' demands. Admit what they say is his failure to prioritize the safety and security of students of color during his time as president. Reaffirm his commitment to the safety of international students. Acknowledge that Lewis & Clark is built on land taken from Native Americans, honors slave owners, appropriates Native American culture in some of its art and architecture and asserts the legacy of Anglo-American white supremacy.
I'm sorry I was in Washington DC when the attacks took place. And I neglected to hire a personal body guard for every non-white student. This college is secretly happy that slavery took place, and looks to plantation owners as role models of what we should all aspire to be. We need to stop doing that. We also stole native american culture by using native american art, and failed to pay them royalties. We stole this land from the Indians. So henceforth, all of the tuition that has been paid by our students will be given to the Spirit Mountain casino, and all the college credits our students have earned will be deemed null and void.
Some people call "Political Correctness" what it really is: Respect. When I was 19 I found out my cousin (as close as a brother) was gay. He came out to the family. I had a choice: A. Continue to use the word "fag" and be disrespectful or, B. Take that word out of my vernacular and actually learn what it means to be gay. I chose B because I love my cousin and I genuinely want to treat others with respect. People who complain about being PC usually don't give a shit about the latter.
Geez, if the guy was that close, how the hell did you ignore the obvious for so long? He must have at least flinched when you flung the fag word.
