Wow. I never thought Lil Wayne was the best rapper alive, much less ever, but I did think he was pretty good; I have heard rappers use lines from other songs, but not whole lines, much less whole verses. I'm a diehard Biggie fan and seeing Wayne just straight copy his shit makes me want to delete all the Lil Wayne from my iTunes, PSP, whatever, you name it. Especially stealing from Tu, another great, and Jay-Z (the best rapper alive, in my opinion). But what the ****, who steals whole verses from dead R&B artists? That's just whack.
Oh, and by the way, the Jay-Z thing was a joke, for those that didn't know. (Though, admittedly, I do like his music. :S) Err ... many rappers steal from each other, yes, but stealing like Weezy did is ... not normal nor should it be accepted. >.>
How can you guys sit here and seriously think that he "stole" these lines and thought he would get away with it? So many people listen to Weezy, and he knows that its basically impossible. Most of these are just homages to some of the best rappers of all time, and there all mixtape songs, where it doesn't really matter. There not gonna get any exposure at all, and hes just trying to flow. The hate for Weezy is just as immense as it is on any other board I go to. I dont LIKE Weezy alot but I respect him. Its the cool thing to do now if you hate Lil Wayne, and it makes you "true rap fan".
They just can't think of anymore original things to "sing" about. Pretty much all the bud, sex, punani, cars, bling, cheddah, and crack have been covered.

Most of those lines were definite homages, spit to keep the flow going. Like MrBigShot said, most of those are from mixtapes took, which a lot of you clearly miss the concept of. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>They just can't think of anymore original things to "sing" about. don't matter what it's on, your gonna take someones lyrics, you gotta put out some kind of shout or people gonna believe you really stole those line. You don't see him mention Aaliyah once in this song <div><object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0UY6wBuuVsw&"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0UY6wBuuVsw&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" /></embed></object></div>
Real people who get rap and Lil Wayne dont need explanations that, "Oh by the way this is a shoutout to ______" Its just pure stupid to think that he thought he was able to get away with jacking multiple lines when hes the most followed rapper in the world.
Rather than debate the intent he had (steal or pay homage) that's all a moot point to me. I've never regarded Wayne as a creative writer, and the fact that he uses other people's lines just keeps supporting my opinion.

I don't really care though. If he makes good music, than that's good. Nobody has anything on Dre, Biggie, and Snoop anyway. By the way, notice how most of the lines he steals are from dead or MIA artists. 'Cause he knows that if he ripped a line from Dre he'd have his head on a spike.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/26/...in4214135.shtml ^^^ It was announced recently that Lil Weezy will be headlining Voodoo Fest this year. For those of you who don't know, Voodoo Fest is one of a billion New Orleans music festivals, but it's the most mainstream. This year it got a major, major headliner in Rage Against the Machine, playing one of only five or six shows they were playing that year and had played in like eight years. They also got DJ Tiesto (who basically put on an all-night rave), Kings of Leon, Smashing Pumpkins, M.I.A., and a bunch of other headliners I'm too, well honestly, drunk to remember right now. This really means nothing to anyone but me and hawksfan, but I figured I'd throw it out there for him. '07 Voodoofest was one of the milestones in my life (for the music, the experience, and well, a crazy shit I don't want to go into, haha), and up until now I was really down, thinking '08 would suck, with washed-up, annoying pop-rock headliners, but now that Weezy is scheduled, I have a reason to go again.
