I still hold out hope that when all is said and done, our Curry will be seen as the greatest Curry ever.

No way to know until their careers are done. But will he even be "our Curry" next season and beyond?

Jason Kidd developed a 3 point shot as a 34 year old.

An "old dog" can learn new tricks.

I think the supermax contract is a team killer. I understand the concept but the supermax should left out of the cap itself and not count against it. Whatever the max is count that against the cap the rest should be treated like a bonus and left off the cap hit. Otherwise you are still punishing the small market team for having someone great on your team and not able to get him the help he needs. I thought about the Lillard offer and I would have to say no don't offer it to him wait till we get rid of ET and Moes contract and get some viable help. Right now we are scrambling to sign Kanter and Hood and thinking we may have to watch Layman walk. I love Dame and I want to pay him butI would like to get rid of a few things and see what happens in FA before we go into mediocrity again

The supermax starts in 2021, Blazers have two years time to build the roster

If it doesnt start for two years, Why offer it now? What if, God forbid, he has a career ending injury?

Its like paying taxes early. Why? Why let them earn interest off your money?

Ohh gotcha. Okay. Yeah, I guess offer it to him now then.... I just hope Dame understands how much it will contribute to hamstringing the team from improving the talent level of the roster around him.

is the team "hamstring-ed" now because of Dame's contract???

because currently he's at a little over 28% of the cap. His 191M supermax will put him at around 32-34% of the cap. The difference between the max and the supermax runs from about the tax-MLE to somewhere less than the full-MLE. That's not some insurmountable financial burden like some of you are panicking about

what hamstrings a team are players on contracts like Turner, Crabbe, and Meyers. Avoid those type of deals and the team will be fine

I'm a lot more worried about Olshey giving CJ a max deal than I am about Dame getting the super-max. Dame would be making a shade less than 48M/year. CJ could be making 40M/year

You want to worry the next two years if Dame is going to leave or would you rather have him locked up for 5-6 years knowing he's got a good shot at being a Blazer-for-Life?

So does it matter WHEN he signs this? Would it change our cap situation depending on when this happens?

The best thing we can do is sign Dame to a supermax.

Let's face it, while Jody Allen seems to be enjoying the team she is not as passionate about it as Paul was. Meaning she is not going to be interested in going into high luxury tax. She is going to want to run the team for profit of at least to break even. A new owner isn't going to care about running the team for profit or break even. New owners love to play with their shiny new toy.

Jody got to enjoy a nice playoff run. Now it's time to sell the team.

Huh? You don't give a GM a 5 yr contract and extend the coach for 3 yrs two days after the season ends if you plan on selling the team. Any new ownership will want their own guys running the show.

Sure you do. We see GMs and coaches being fired all the time with years left on their contracts.

You're missing my point. If Jody wanted to sell, she obviously wouldn't want to have outstanding contracts to guys who will inevitably be replaced-- it only adds to the cost for the new ownership group thus making the team more unappealing to buy.

If anything, if Jody wanted to sell, she would have made the payroll lean.
