Lillard had the best game per minute of anyone this season. (Divide ESPN effectiveness points by minutes played.) http://espn.go.com/nba/gameleaders
I'm running a bunch of Game Finder queries against Basketball-Reference.com, and the lists that show games like Dame's are really short. When you include minutes played and assists and steal, even 50/5/5, the list drops to one. Last night was special indeed.
Steph is highly capable of going off like that, but to get the six steals and seven assists too? Fuggedaboutit.
As I said in another thread, they must be doing this after Wilts 100 point game. Actually, I doubt this is true. Kobe's 81 point game came with 55 points in the 2nd half, and only played 42 minutes. So, I doubt that he scored 31 points in 9 minutes. Or the 62 points in 33 minutes against Dallas
Complete game, yes. Steph can get the points... but can he do ALL that? I know he's capable of steals and assists... but that was special.
Let's not overdo it. Steph had 53 points in 36 minutes and 51 in 36 minutes this season already. This isn't the Kobe 81 point game.
He played only 31 minutes 6 seconds, so on a per-minute basis, his game excels over other many other great games in history.
Yeah that stat is REALLY misleading; because the 81-point game came before play by play stats were tracked, so we don't have when Kobe hit 51 in that game. The game bring referenced is actually a 51-point game against Denver. Wilt's 100-point game is the same way; we know he played 48 minutes every night but we don't know when he hit 50.
I'll also mention that Klay Thompson had 37 points in a single quarter last season. He ended with 52. The Lillard game was great, but things need to kept in perspective.
You mean, the perspective of all the short lists he's on from last nights game from a COMPLETE game standpoint? That perspective? Cause it's the only perspective that matters.
That information can be discovered. The radio play-by-play of Chamberlain's 100-point game was put onto the internet about 3 years ago. I listened to the whole thing, but I don't have the link now. It's probably easy to find.
